The band was formed by Royal Birmingham Conservatoire student and alumni Will and Zinnia. Able to perform with 2 to 5 players + caller, the band is highly versatile and can provide entertainment for all sizes of events. From themed birthday parties to high profile events, Whizzy is able to adapt to any request, and still put on a ceilidh with polish and flare. Based in the West Midlands, they are able to travel to all corners of the UK and further afield. Whizzy are also known to provide background music for events, having performed for the Flatpack Film Festival and the RBC Records Fair. The Whizzy band were absolutely fantastic. They played expertly and made my guests feel really comfortable and excited to join in the dancing - even the shy ones! The energy was incredible and they were all very professional and polite. I would heartily recommend them!

I saw Whizzy playing at the RBC Record Fair. Their tasteful background music was lovely to listen to as I browsed the collection of records for sale. I would definitely recommend them!

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

We performed music before the screening of Sinners at Flatpack Film Festival, hosted in Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

Do you have different line-up options?

As a collective, we have many different instrumentalists on call. If you have a specific instrumentation in mind, let us know and we will see what we can do.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always aim to be as flexible as possible to ensure your event runs smoothly. Let us know about any time changes and we'll do our best to work to them.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We will always have a playlist of background music on before the start, between sets, and as we pack down. If you'd like to have a DJ playlist for a final boogie after the ceilidh, we can provide this for an additional £30.

How much time do you need to set up?

We need about 30 minutes to set up, but will always aim to be set up an hour before the performance starts. Once the PA is set up we provide a free playlist of background music to help set the atmosphere.

Do you provide a caller?

Yes we do, our seasoned callers can always get a crowd going! If you already have a caller, just let us know so we can adjust the line up accordingly!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We have a large list of ceilidh dances for you to pick from, ensuring every event is unique. If you have a favourite dance that isn't on the list, let us know and our callers can learn it, we always enjoy adding to our repertoire.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA) included in your quote?

Yes, our PA is always included in the quote. If you want the PA to remain to play music after the ceilidh this can be added on.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If there are any trad/folk tunes that you specifically want to hear, let us know and we will find a way to work it into our set. We welcome the opportunity to learn new music!
