Su Kim

Building her professional career in Los Angeles, California, Ms. Suyeon Kim has performed on stages such as Walt Disney Concert Hall, Schoenberg Hall, and LACMA Brown Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. Recently, Ms. Kim performed in WDCH as a part of Piatigorsky Cello Festival 2016, sharing the stage with world renown cellists such as Ron Leonard, Frans Helmerson, Mischa Maisky, Matt Haimovitz, etc. Suyeon has been featured and heard on KUSC Sunday’s Live Emerging Artists Series and the V.I.P. Opening Gala of L.A. Fashion Week as the lead artist. She has collaborated with chamber artists such as Arnold Steinhardt,Ronald Leonard, and Quartor Ebene on Zipper Hall and Thayer Hall. She also was given masterclasses by Paul Katz, Richard Aaron, Jeffrey Lastrapes, the Ahn Trio, the Smetana Trio, and Quartor Ebene, etc. Raised in Daegu, South Korea, Ms. Kim studied with Jung-Hwa Lee and Sang-Hee Suh. At the age of thirteen, she moved to Lawton/Fort Sill, Oklahoma where she studied with Jeffrey Lastrapes and Kristine Underwood for five years. The recipient of numerous awards and honors, Ms. Kim achieved 2014 Colburn Teaching Fellowship at the Colburn Conservatory School of Music under the guidance of Bob Duke. Ms. Kim attended the Aspen Music Festival 2014 where she studied with Richard Aaron. Suyeon Kim is a candidate for Artist Diploma at the Colburn Conservatory School of Music in Los Angeles, California where she studies with Ronald Leonard. She is a graduate alumni of the Colburn School with degree of Bachelor of Music. Ms. Kim plays on a 2004 William Whedbee cello and 1918 Carl Becker Sr. cello on generous loan from the Colburn Foundation. On her spare time, Su enjoys traveling the world, cooking, trying out new restaurants/international cuisines, going to music festivals, shopping at Sephora, etc. Last updated June 2016
