About SugarRush

More than just a band - classical, jazz, DJ sets AND a live pop band, we provide music for the whole day, not just a one hour set!
Pop trio
Oxford

Three classically trained musicians in Oxford who specialise in putting on a show. Between us we play ten different instruments, including organ (good for weddings!), programmable synths and multiple trombones. We can walk you down the aisle to Brahms and Mozart, make your drinks reception classy with some low key Miles Davis, rock the dance floor with disco classics, and keep your guests dancing till dawn with DJ sets. We are more than just a band, we are SugarRush Music.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

That we are more than just a band! We are multi-instrumentalists and we can perform entirely different genres. Our guests have mentioned how they love the way we swap instruments in our live set. They have mentioned the great energy we bring, and our good communication with the audience and each other.

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Yes. Our lineup - Alice, Daniel and Lydia, are the core band, and - unless one of us is struck down by illness or personal tragedy - will be at every gig! We may occasionally hire in extra musicians for one or two songs if requested.

Do you have different line-up options?

Definitely! We are all multi-instrumentalists. Alice can play keys, guitar, drums, vocals, and a tiny bit of trumpet! Daniel plays bass, trombone, drums and keys. Lydia plays drums, trombone, and sings. We are happy to hire in the odd extra musician(s) for a few numbers if, for example, you request a song with a big sax solo (Careless Whisper!).

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We are very flexible about all changes, and understand that planning a big event can involve changes of plan! Communication is key - and we will do our best to make sure everything runs smoothly for you on your special day.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes! We have background music between sets, and then offer DJ sets after our final live set.

How much time do you need to set up?

We require about 2 hours to set up, and we like to arrive as early as possible to get a feel of our sound and lighting in the space.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Yes, as we have our own PA and lighting - the breakdown of the cost will mention these items, as they are heavy and take time to set up. We transport all our equipment in our band van.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We do take requests for songs, with a charge of £30 per song - which accounts for extra rehearsal time and synth programming.
