Stroma are a small family of musicians who love what they do! They pride themselves on being friendly and approachable and providing the highest quality ceilidhs and folk music. With musical backgrounds rooted in the folk world, highest training from music colleges across the UK and Europe and current experience as touring and performing musicians, Stroma brings all the essential requirements for a great event! Stroma have performed at a range of large venues, including the Blackheath Halls, Cecil Sharp House, Islington Assembly Halls and Patchworks Leyton, alongside a whole range of private and smaller venue events. They are able to provide our own sound systems, lighting and several additional options, such as playlist services, background folk music and more! Stroma love working with new people, and will take the upmost pride in making sure your event is the most fun and enjoyable it can be!

Stroma were fantastic when they played 2 ceilidh sets for our wedding in Greenwich. They were very responsive in the organisation and their playing was faultless with very clear calling. Would recommend them to anyone!

Stroma produced a fantastic ceilidh for our belated wedding celebration in Derby, and I can't thank them enough. We had an absolute blast. We've received so many messages from ceilidh newbies and veterans saying what a fantastic time they had - my Scottish uncle described it as a "helluva ceilidh"! The band responded quickly to any questions throughout the booking process and arrived on schedule on the day. They were also flexible and completely unphased when the party was inevitably behind schedule! The band was friendly and inclusive of the range of people at the party, and I'd happily recommend them to anyone!

Ceremony - Acoustic Folk Music - Our musicians can play during your ceremony, either with full band or with just Guitar and Fiddle. Canapes/Drinks Reception - Up to 90 minutes of folk tunes to entertain your guests! Evening Ceilidh - 2 one hour sets of high energy ceilidh dancing, led by our expert caller! Break Playlist - We can provide a playlist, or you can suggest one to us, so the music never stops!

What do your clients love most about your performances?

We often get told we are very approachable and friendly and that we bring a very fresh and exciting take on traditional instruments and tunes! We just want every event to be a resounding success, so we really care about the fine details! We also enjoy what we do and it comes across in our performances!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We have performed at a range of venues! The larger ones being: Blackheath Halls Islington Assembly Hall Cecil Sharp House, Camden ISH Venues, London Patchworks, Leyton We have also performed at countless lovely smaller wedding venues around the UK!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

A real range! Our music backgrounds are very varied! Everything from folk bands like Talisk and Ranagri to classical to pop and beyond!

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

We now regularly perform for the Ceilidh Club in London as a guest band! This regular devoted set of dancers are a treat to play for and we always have a real blast!

Can you perform covers?

We can perform covers, however they would be instrumental covers and folk instruments can only perform certain things! For example, a folk cover of some Metallica may be tricky, but we are open to ideas!

Do you have different line-up options?

Our lineup options are as follows: 2 Piece - Guitar & Fiddle or Whistle 3 Piece - Guitar & Fiddle or Whistle, plus Caller (Ceilidhs) 4 Piece - Guitar, Bodhran/Percussion & Fiddle or Whistle, plus Caller 5 Piece - Guitar, Bodhran/Percussion, Fiddle & Whistle, plus Caller 6 Piece - Guitar, Bodhran/Percussion, Fiddle & Whistle, Bass plus Caller

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We are very flexible! Just let us know! The sooner we know any timing changes, the more likely it is we can accommodate any requests!

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely! Our iPod playlist service is free! DJ is around £400 for 2 hours!

How much time do you need to set up?

We can setup in 60 minutes, though any extra time is lovely! We can have a playlist up and running within 15 minutes!

Do you provide a caller?

Yes! The lovely Caitlin and Alec are our callers, both our friendly and clear and are always a hit with dancers! If you have a caller already, we're also happy to provide the musicians!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We play from countless folk tunes! If you have any favourite tunes, definitely let us know and we will be sure to play them!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA) included in your quote?

All equipment is included! We don't tend to bring lighting with us as standard, but at request we can bring basic lighting free of charge.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a track is one we don't already know, we can certainly see if it is possible to learn it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we are happy to do this for you. We would ask to charge a fee of £30 for this service to take into account rehearsal times for the musicians to make sure it is truly perfect!
