We are a fun bunch of talented, award winning musicians that make up the best party and wedding band in Dorset and Hampshire. We LOVE a party, we LOVE playing music and we LOVE having fun whilst we do it!  Since 2010, we've been fortunate enough to share in over 300 wedding days with loved up couples and their guests. We've played at intimate wedding ceremonies, wild evening parties with 500+ guests and everything in between. We’ve learnt what works well and used our experience to put together a selection of songs and packages that will create just the right atmosphere at the right time to help make this the most incredible day of your life. Not only will we give our absolute all to you and your guests musically, we will have your guests up dancing all night - you can even help us choose the songs. We LOVE a crowd selfie and if your guests are up for it - a friendly (mostly) and competitive (always) dance off will make you laugh (or cry)! Honestly words can't do justice to how fantastic Soulstar were at our wedding. When we started planning our wedding having a band was a non-negotiable and we were just beyond thrilled that we got Soulstar! Do yourselves a favour and book them now!! Though we didn't have a very large group and the tent was a little bare at times, Katy and her wonderful band kept the vibes so high and we've had so many people say how brilliant you were. Your set list was bang on as well, all of our favourite songs and what a voice Katy has! You also more than did justice to our first dance choice (which was a duet) and we just loved every second of it. You organising a tunnel of people whilst singing us out at the end was also just perfect. I would give you 10 stars if I could. You have been a pleasure to speak to and work with from day one and made the whole experience easy and so smooth. Flawless from start to finish.

Wow... well where do I start! Katy and the Soulstar band are absolutely incredible!!! Katy and the lovely guitarist played our favourite songs as we walked down the aisle, while we signed the register and as we walked out as a married couple. The atmosphere was amazing and it made the ceremony so much more personal. Then they went on to do a 90 minute set for the drinks reception, which was beautiful! To have live music while everyone is mingling and chatting was perfect! They are so talented and wonderful they hands down made the day so special. And let's not forget the whole band in the evening. The selection of music is amazing, they did such a great mix of music for everyone! They got the party started and no one wanted them to finish! Katy and the band even learnt our first dance song and they absolutely smashed it... so much so everyone was asking us what the song is so they can listen to it! THANK YOU isn't enough. Soulstar are the most incredible band and I'm so grateful to have had them at our wedding. We want them to play at every event! It was a privilege, thank you Katy for being so kind, talented and an all round awesome person!

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Our energy and interaction! We have everyone up on the dance floor and keep them there all night. It's all about connection for me! I love to know a bit about our couple before their wedding so I can get a feel for them and their guests. On the night, we give it our absolute all and the crowd can feel this and reacts for sure!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We've been lucky and played at some wicked venues! At the top of the Gherkin was cool, as was playing underneath the Cutty Sark! We've played on a fort in the middle of the ocean as well as on the Orient Express.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Different for all of us I think! The classics for sure. We all listen to many different artists and that depends on the mood we're in, I guess, or where we are in our musical journey. (Katy) - my favourite era is 90's garage as it takes me back to very happy & fun memories. Music transports you back to a memory in a heartbeat!

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Katy, who runs the band, always performs - unless sickness or emergency prevails, but we have musicians that play with us regularly to stand in for these situations. You wouldn't even know if there had been a band reshuffle! Reputation means everything so you can be confident all our players are of a very high level, experience and lovely people!

Do you have different line-up options?

We have an acoustic duo for ceremonies and drinks receptions. That then ranges to a 4 to 6 piece band, introducing sax and/or keys.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Just let us know! If timings change slightly, this shouldn't be a problem.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes! We can supply pre mixed playlists around our sets.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually require around 60 minutes, depending on how easy it is to load in our equipment to the stage area. As soon as our PA is set up, we will put on one of the playlists in order to start building the party vibes!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We shall send you a song list of ours to choose which songs you'd love us to play and if there are any you'd rather we didn't. We then use our expertise to put together a fabulous set list based on your choices in order to create a packed dance floor all night!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Our band PA and band lighting are included in your quote. We require a hard standing area to set up on, either a stage or hard floor.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We'd love to learn your first dance for you if you'd like us to play it for you! There's no extra charge for this. If you have other song requests, tell us what they are before your event and if we already know them AND they'll work for keeping the dance floor full, then we'll play it!
