SKITE (verb): dart, shoot through the air, fall or be driven in a slanting direction. Having hosted 100s of traditional ceilidhs over the years, we decided we wanted a change and reimagined ourselves as Skite Ceilidh Band! We believe everyone should be able to enjoy a ceilidh, so we've been building new energetic sets fused with genres and styles from around the world, modernising what we think a ceilidh should be. You'll find original dances in our set as well as golden oldies with a twist (don't worry, we still do a bangin' Strip the Willow), there's even a few ceilidh games for you to play!

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Our unique take on the ceilidh format, including original dances, games, and new spins on old favourites.

Can you perform covers?

We don't yet offer covers, though we're looking to develop a covers style dance set in the future.

Do you have different line-up options?

We occasionally offer smaller lineups, though this is rare and based on the clients needs. Please get in touch to discuss further.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Our timings are relatively standard for the genre. In the unlikely event that we were to change the length of the set, we would honour any bookings already paid for.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We're more than happy to have some background music playing before the ceilidh (once we're setup up) and between sets. Our PA is equipped to do this.

How much time do you need to set up?

A minimum of an hour. Our PA is compact and doesn't take too long to setup, but we don't like to rush and put unnecessary pressure on the client.

Do you provide a caller?

Of course! Not everyone has been to a ceilidh before, so various members of the band are also experienced callers. We will teach the dances as we go, and call for a few passes to solidify the dances moves.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

If you have a particular set of dances in mind, we're more than happy to play those for you.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA) included in your quote?

Everything is included in the quote. We come with our own PA and audio equipment. We currently don't come with our own lighting.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Given enough time, we are happy to learn a particular song for your event, as long as you're happy for us to interpret that in our own way (we would play it instrumentally as we don't include a vocalist). There would be a small charge for this service.

We booked Skite for our wedding in October 2021. Communication in the run up was great. The band were also really accommodating and even played an acoustic set during our outdoor ceremony which was really special. The ceilidh was so much fun and I am so pleased we chose this for our wedding as it really brings people together. The band were excellent and brought a really good atmosphere and were very patient when people were struggling to follow the (very clear!) calling of the dances! Thanks again Charlotte & David
