Composer
London

Samuel's work in composing over recent years has led him to work with ensembles including the Tetra trumpet quartet, Milton Brass, the City Chamber Choir, the the Guildhall's New Music Ensemble and Drama department and the KVU singers. His work often explores ideas of humour and beauty, as well as stylistic juxtaposition and pastiche experimentation. He is the founder and musical director of the Guildhall School Pops Orchestra (GSMD Pops), conducting and arranging all the orchestra's repertoire. Other work in arranging/conducting has included work with the GSMD drama department, the Almeida theatre and GT & the Sundial Band. After a few minor on-stage roles as a teenager, Samuel has continued his passion for theatre as a musical director, founding the Purple Summer Theatre Company with director Sophie Sweetland in 2013 (performances 13'/14') and working with writer Sevan K. Greene on the new show Bi (performances 14'/15'), as well as working closely with the Guildhall School Drama Department on 4 recent productions. He is the house MD for Musical Theatre Tuesdays at the Theatre Royal, Stratford East and plays the organ at St. Paul's Church, Brentford. Samuel currently lives in London and studies composition and jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Matthew King and Kate Williams.
