Thank you Ruth for providing beautiful piano and flute music for our wedding, it was the perfect accompaniment to the ceremony and it was made even more special with the contrast between the sound of the two instruments. Our guests have also commented on how brilliant your playing was. Thank you! Lizzy x

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Reliability, a beautiful tone & expression is also often mentioned. A selection of reviews and testimonials are listed on my website and here on encore.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

The Royal Festival Hall, Seville Cathedral, Albert Hall, Westminster Registry, Barbican Hall, Brecon Cathedral, Cardiff Castle, Leeds Castle, Chatsworth, Woburn Abbey, Belton House, Parley Manor, Fountains Abbey, BBC Recording Studios, Harmon House, Pennsylvania Castle Estate, Belvoir Castle, The Manor Hotel; many other hotels & churches.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Past teachers: Geoffrey Gilbert, Stephen Preston, Edward Beckett, Douglas Townshend, Trevor Wye, James Galway and Jean Pierre Rampal (Flute); Peter Katin and Mary Rees (Piano). Francis Howard (Violin - BBC Welsh Symphony). Rock and Pop 50s/60s/70s/80s/90s icons, Rock Bands, Jazz, many current bands and artists too many influences to list here.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

There are several: Seville Cathedral orchestral stand in for Royal Wedding 1995; A Royal Festival Hall concert in 2015, when I performed as a soloist in a concert of aleatoric music by John Cage, Morton Feldman, & Witold Lutosławski; BBC Cymru showcase broadcasts of Daniel Jones & Grace Williams' compositions.Mozart & Ibert concerto in Altenburg Germany.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let me know.

How much time do you need to set up?

I usually set up about 1 to 1.5 hours before the performance time.

If I have a piano at my venue, are you happy to perform on that?

Yes, of course - the piano needs however to be in working order and in tune, (concert pitch) then I'm happy to play on it. Please note that I will need access to it before the event. It is possible to hire a grand piano from a supplier such as Gordon Bell in Aberdeen if the venue does not have a piano and you would like an acoustic grand.

Are you able to bring your own piano or keyboard?

I only play on acoustic instruments.
