North Tyneside Steelband are the north east's largest steelband and have been performing across the UK and internationally for over 35 years. At it's heart, the band is a charity that teaches children music helping them progress to the Performance Band and beyond. The Performance Band is our commercial gigging band, offering a professional service to fund and support the charitable efforts. The band's repertoire includes a range of genres including traditional carribean and calypso music, chart and pop, classical and world music. With over 60 songs in the repertoire there's something for every event. We have played at a plethora of events including, but not limited to, weddings, funerals, music and food festivals, corporate events, exhibitions and awards ceremonies.

Well, what can I say? Your performance at our wedding was the highlight of the evening. From the great communication in arranging things to doing a fantastic job of filling the dance floor, you were great. Emma and I will always look back on the day and remember everybody’s smiling faces when the band started up. The Paulo Nutini number was a personal favourite. Thanks again. We listen to your CD all the time.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

The high energy and volume when playing as a 10 piece band, and the gentle sounds when playing as a smaller 4 piece.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We have performed at wedding venues, churches, concert venues and festival stages. We can easily perform in open spaces too.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

We performed at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the Music for Youth Festival Proms.

Do you have different line-up options?

We offer a range of line-ups from 3 to 20 players. This can include a full drum kit or a smaller percussion section for more ambient performances.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We are flexible up until the day before the event depending on the nature of the change.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We do not provide this service.

How much time do you need to set up?

We need at least 45 minutes of setup time prior to the event and 45 miuntes to pack away for our standard 10 piece band.

Can you roam around while you perform?

We can play pans around the neck for short distances but can only perform with a limited number with a smaller percussion section.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Are set list is flexible but depends on the players that are available on the day.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

All steelpans are included in the quote. We usually require a minimum space of 6 by 3 meters for a 10 piece setup.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We can learn songs upon request but this will be reflected in the quote depending on the complexity of the song.
