About Noah Merrall

Emotive and soothing piano sounds with a soulful RnB vibe.

I'm an experienced and talented young pianist based in Leeds playing covers and original music. Available for events, background music, gigs, recording sessions and more. I fell in love with music at a very young age and it's been the centerpiece of my life ever since. I'm primarily a pianist and have played both piano and drums for over 16 years. My learning was a mixture of both teachers and self taught and both have molded me into the musician I am today. Music is something that's so special to me and nothing brings me more passion and joy than sharing it with others. Put me at a piano anytime, anywhere and with any context and I'll play for hours and hours on end with no desire to stop! Whether I'm the showpiece performer under the spotlight or hidden away in the corner just providing ambience, I love it all the same, and will always adapt my music/presence/style to the event! Music is my full time job and I practice piano every day for several hours with a strong desire to improve and progress my music career. I'm very ambitious and committed and will take on as many gigs as possible! I would consider my piano playing to be 'Jazzy Pop'. Classics like Aretha Frankin, Carole King, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie & Billy Joel are mainstays in my eclectic sets. I also love to delve into the the more modern pop thats perfect for a pianist like Amy Winehouse, Adele & Alicia Keys. I also play traditional jazz, latin, classical, soundtrack and RnB. I would describe my technique and musicianship as tasteful and 'unflashy'. It's a nice balance between remaining recognisable and accessible, but also nuanced. I have a soft, warm tone and am relaxing and easy to listen to, while still being emotive, thought provoking and musically engaging. Having played all my life and graduated at Leeds College of Music, I am a professional musician at a high level. I've played many gigs and many types of gigs, so I know how to adapt to your unique event and provide the specific service you want. I also pride myself on my people skills. I am very friendly, understanding, respectful, easy to work with, and really love to develop working relationships with others. I also know my place as the musician, I'm not there to show off or take the limelight. I'm there to do my job and provide a service for the clients, to create an atmosphere and keep the energy of the event flowing. My favourite events or perfoming highlights so far were 2 events in south London. A wedding and a naming ceremony in Lewisham where I was part of a band with some of the finest modern jazz musicians in the UK right now, including Yussef Dayes, Rocco Palladino & musicians from United Vibrations. The events were sublime and and the music brilliantly recieved by the guests, it was a great experience for me. Thanks very much for taking the time to read this and please don't hesitate to get in touch if you need some silky piano sounds for your restaurant, hotel, bar, wedding, party, business or social event, or anything else!

Noah played our “home office party” and was absolutely stellar. He learned a bunch of tunes we requested and kept his cool even when one of our guests spilled red wine all over his nice shirt (which we did clean for him). His playing is rock solid and he couldn’t have been nicer or easier to communicate with before the day. I recommend him highly!!

We hired Noah to play the piano in our museum, for us to record and use in an outreach project. This is the actual piano of the Bronte family, and is a historic object in our collection that is very precious. The piano has only been played 5 times in the last 30 years, and we have to bring a historic piano tuner in prior to the playing. Least to say, it was a very special and important task, and I couldn’t have hired someone more brilliant to do so. Noah came prepared to play the song we had requested; he had learnt it off by heart, and had different variations for us to choose from and record. This was incredibly professional and made the recording process simple, smooth, and fruitful. Noah was respectful of the historic piano, and made sure he adapted his practice to our specific requirements. His playing of the song was beautiful- so much so everyone working in the museum came to listen. Noah was a delight to work with, and we would recommend him to anyone (historic Bronte piano or not!).

Definitely one the most dedicated musicians I worked with. I sent him the tunes, which were an array of Brazilian music genres, and scores and by the first rehearsal (roughly 2 weeks after I gave him the parts) he had learnt the tunes and with no need for the scores. The thing that most impressed me is how he picked on the subtleties of the genre we were playing, even being one of his first times if not the first for most of them. Great keyboardist, great musician, great coworker, great person.

Customer questions

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Amy Winehouse Stevie Wonder Bill Withers Nina Simone Aretha Franklin Carole King Randy Crawford Al Green Robert Glasper Pj Morton Earth, Wind & Fire Tower of Power Beyonce Herbie Hancock

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

A corporate dinner event in Doubletree Hotel in Hull. Extended evening set on a grand piano.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

No problem, just keep in touch and keep me updated. Things always change and develop at events and I'm aware of that.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Of course. I'm a DJ too so I can bring all my decks/equipment and do a proper set if required. Or I can just do it on my phone, it's up to you. I've done DJaying professionally at clubs before, particularly disco and motown, so it's perfect for that wedding/event atmosphere.

How much time do you need to set up?

Depends on the equipment provided, if there is a piano at the venue, then no time at all! If it's my equipment then around 30 minutes

If I have a piano at my venue, are you happy to perform on that?

Of course! I'll happily play on any piano.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Of course! Generally I'll match what I'm playing to the event anyway, but if there are certain songs you'd like, just let me know!

Are you able to bring your own piano or keyboard?

Yep no problem. It's nice if there's one there but either way is fine.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Absolutely. I'm a very quick learner. Just let me know before the event if there are songs you want me to play.
