Eugene (Gene) Marshall is an Australian composer from Perth, Australia. Starting piano lessons at seven, Eugene began composing in his final year of high school. In 2006 Gene enrolled at the School of Music at the University of Western Australia, studying composition with Roger Smalley, James Ledger and Chris Tonkin. He graduated with honours in 2011. In 2012 Eugene began his Master of Music degree at the Royal College of Music, studying with Alison Kay and Simon Holt, and graduated in 2014. Subsequently he was elected President of the RCM Students' Union for two years. Eugene's compositions are decidedly tonal and accessible to non-classical audiences; these characteristics are very important to him. His music has been performed in various venues in Australia and the UK. His recordings are distributed by Ditto Music.
