About Kirsty
MMus viola student at Guildhall School of Music and Drama
Violist
Oxford

Principally a violist, I trained at the Junior Royal Academy, where I led the Symphony Orchestra viola section, and have continued to study with Robert Turrell while at university. As of September 2016, I will be studying at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, generously supported by a scholarship. While at Oxford, I have played in the University Orchestra (OUO), Oxford University Philharmonia, and Oxford University Sinfonietta, an elite ensemble specialising in ancient and modern music. I also co-founded the Oxford University Chamber Music Society to offer non-music students the opportunity to play chamber music in both formal and informal situations. I have extensive chamber music experience as well as orchestral experience, and have played a substantial amount of modern music, including a recording of new music by Ruth Elliot, the recording premiere of music by GSMD Composition MPhil student Rhiannon Randle, and the European premiere of an arrangement of Mahler's 9th Symphony for chamber ensemble.
