Kat Browning is a single reeds player (clarinet, bass clarinet, alto and baritone saxophones) based in Manchester. Her immersion in performing arts began at the age of 6; she enjoyed experiences as an actor and dancer, and was even selected for the National Youth Theatre in 2006, before deciding the music was her calling. Kat is at the end of her Advanced Postgraduate course at the Royal Northern College of Music; she has studied with Opera North’s principal clarinet Colin Honour, former principal of the RLPO, Nicholas Cox and contemporary bass clarinettist Sarah Watts. Kat also has experience in genres, including jazz, salsa, samba and folk music… and has been known to sneak her clarinet into Folk Sessions! “Performance means so much more than entertainment; as I have grown, it has given me the tools to speak, to think and to feel as an individual – I believe all of us need music to help development in these ways!”
