About The Choir of Jesus College, Cambridge

One of Cambridge's finest collegiate choirs, The Choir of Jesus College is internationally renowned for its concerts, tours and recordings.
Cambridge

The Choir of Jesus College, Cambridge is unique in that it maintains two choirs; the College Choir, made up of male and female undergraduates, and the Chapel Choir, made up of male undergraduates and boy choristers. The College Choir sings evensong on Tuesdays and Sundays, and the Chapel Choir on Thursdays and Saturdays. The College Choir regularly performs at College feasts, additional services and concerts throughout the year. Recently, the Choir has given well-received performances of Bach’s St Matthew Passion and Handel’s Messiah, has participated in the BBC Proms as part of the University’s 800th anniversary celebrations and recorded broadcasts for BBC TV and Radios 2, 3 and 4. The Choir also has a rapidly expanding discography. Praised by The Times for their “energy, verve, immaculate tuning and beguiling tone”, Jesus Choral Scholars enjoy an exciting schedule of European and long-haul travel: in the past, the Choir has toured to Ireland, Belgium and the Ukraine, and will travel to Sri Lanka in December. In March 2013, the choir began a pioneering project leading singing workshops with children in the slums of Mumbai. This collaboration with the charity Songbound will see the College Choir return to India at least every three years to build on its work with impoverished communities.
