Hannah Watson graduated from Cambridge in Modern Languages in 2012 and has since been studying for a Masters in piano performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Her time in Cambridge provided a wealth of very different musical opportunities, from solo and concerto playing in West Road Concert Hall to song and chamber recitals in Kettles Yard and playing for new opera. An Erasmus year in Lyon was a chance to explore working with theatre and dance.
Highlights of the course at Guildhall have included performing Takemitsu’s Rain Spell at LSO St Luke’s, Chabrier piano pieces at the Barbican, and a song recital at St Martin-in-the-Fields. She also won second prize at the Norah Sande competition in July 2014. Her studies have been generously funded by a Help Musicians Postgraduate Performance Award, the Kenneth Loveland Gift, the Worshipful Company of Tallow Chandlers and the Countess of Munster Musical Trust. She currently learns with Martin Roscoe and Caroline Palmer.
