Christian is a freelance consort and session singer based in London. He performs with numerous professional ensembles including London Voices, La Serenissima, and the Choir of Her Majesty's Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace. Opera roles include Father Philippe in Holst's The Wandering Scholar (Waistcoat Opera Company, Grimeborn Festival 2011, Arcola Theatre) and Publio in Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito (cover, Opus Opera). Opera chorus work includes Rigoletto, Nabucco, La traviata, Un ballo in maschera, La forza del destino and Il trovatore (Verdi), Carmen (Bizet), La Wally (Catalani), Pelléas et Mélisande (Debussy), Don Pasquale, La Fille du régiment (Donizetti), L'amore dei tre re (Montemezzi), Kat'a Kabanova (Janácek), L'amico Fritz (Mascagni), La Gioconda (Ponchielli), Iolanta (Tchaikovsky) and Francesca da Rimini (Z andonai) with Opera Holland Park, and Carmen with the chorus of Chisinau National Opera. Christian pursued vocal training at the Royal Academy of Music while a choral scholar at King's College London, and received his PhD in music from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. He currently studies singing with Robert Rice.

I frequently employ Christian Goursaud as a consort singer in a freelance capacity. He has a fabulous and very flexible voice that he can tailor to any ensemble/choral/consort requirement allied to stunning musicianship. His ability to read and interpret at sight is first class. He is thoroughly reliable and punctual and a fine team player. He is naturally empathic and alert to polyphonic and choral textures yet he can easily produce wonderful solo work. He also is very aware of the nature of any engagement and always behaves appropriately and sensitively. Christian has a wide knowledge of suitable repertoire for secular/private/public concert or service planning purposes. His repertoire could not be more inclusive; spanning chant (he is fluent in various notation schemes) and early sacred music through to the very latest contemporary works even encompassing close harmony. He has a presence on stage that belies his excellent former work in opera choruses. I commend his singing and approachable character to anyone concerned with employing professional singers.
