About Flux Ensemble

London-based string quartet / trio / duo who bring charisma, distinction and energy to everything we do.
String quartet
London
Public liability insurance of £10 million

Whether you’re looking to book music for a wedding ceremony, corporate dinner, drinks event or even a house party, our string quartet, trio or duo can cater for all your musical needs. Our repertoire is vast and ever-growing, covering pop, classical, songs from musicals, film music, Bollywood and more - and we can source requests, including doing in-house arrangements. We can play acoustically anywhere indoors or outdoors (weather / shelter permitting!) and we can also perform amplified if more volume is needed. Flux Ensemble have wide-ranging experience playing at wedding ceremonies, drinks receptions, corporate events, awards ceremonies, celebration dinners, birthdays, anniversaries and candlelight concerts. We pride ourselves on adapting to the needs of each client and booking - we don't have a 'standard set' but choose based on your taste and requests every time. And if you book the trio or duo you will always get arrangements specifically worked out for that lineup. Looking forward to discussing what you really want at your event!

just writing to thank you and your Ensemble Members for making the journey to Sindlesham and for providing such lovely music for our 90th Birthday Celebration Lunch. Your selection of music was just as I had requested and ... it was so wonderful to be able to enjoy beautiful music with which most of us were familiar. ... Please accept my grateful thanks for adding such a beautiful perspective to our event and I wish your Ensemble every success

We had Martin and his string ensemble play at our wedding. The communication and choosing of specific music was both quick and easy. Martin liaised brilliantly with our venue & required zero input from us on the day. The music was beautiful and exactly what we had hoped for. Could not recommend them highly enough! Would definitely book them again! Thank you so much!

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

We prepare thoroughly, and communicate early, making sure we are delivering the music the client wants and the event demands, not 'our usual set'. Then on the day we're ready to turn up and play without needing client input, and the clients can relax and enjoy their day rather than telling us what to do!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Gosfield Hall Leez Priory Queen's House Greenwich Orleans House Gallery Hever Castle Lincoln's Inn Hall Grove House, Roehampton Pelham House, Lewes Offley Place Morden Hall Firle Place Cecil Sharp House Andaz London The Orangery Holland Park Dulwich College Royal Lancaster London The Savoy The Marriott Grosvenor Square and many more!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Vitamin String Quartet

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

The International Property Awards (who book us a few times a year) - industry leading property developers and marketeers, attending awards ceremonies at London's finest hotels (eg, again repeatedly, the Savoy).

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes - we offer: string quartet (2 violins, viola, cello) string trio (violin, viola, cello) duo (viola, cello) We can also discuss bespoke lineups (eg including piano, harp or vocals with strings) but these are significantly more expensive.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We will always try to be flexible, and allow plenty of contingency for events to run not quite as planned on the day! If timings change please just let us know as soon as possible.

How much time do you need to set up?

We allow half an hour but don't really need that long if necessary. Once set up in one space in a given venue we can move to a different room in a few minutes, especially if we're playing acoustically as usual and there are chairs set up at both locations for us.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Absolutely. We are happy for you to pick as many numbers as you want from our existing repertoire - if we don't have for them all we'll select, and if we have more time to fill we'll pick some more based on what your tastes seem to be. We will take requests on the day but it's helpful if we get them in advance!

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes. Normally all we need is a chair (without arms) each and shelter from potential rain or direct sun to play outdoors. If we're playing amplified the only extra thing we need is a mains power socket.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Yes, we will always try to accommodate requests that are important to you. A few songs, especially if they're easy for us to source, will be no problem. If you have a lot of things we don't have and that prove difficult or expensive for us to get, then we may have to discuss an additional fee to cover expense and work on them, but always please ask first!
