Imperial College Chamber Choir is based at Imperial College, in South Kensington, London. The Chamber Choir is an auditioned ensemble of about 24 singers, conducted by Patrick Allies. Rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings, following which we are keen frequenters of the Union Bar. We are one of London’s finest university choirs that performs frequently in the capital, across the UK and internationally. Notable venues include Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Sherborne Abbey, Milan Duomo, Porto Cathedral, Southwark Cathedral, Brecon Cathedral and St Edmundsbury Cathedral. We present two concerts per term, and sing fortnightly Wednesday evensongs at Holy Trinity Church, Prince Consort Road. We regularly undertake various external projects such as weddings, recordings, DofE awards ceremonies, church services and gallery recitals at local museums. Taking our music outside of college is very important to us, and we go on a week-long Easter tour, a week-long summer tour, and several weekends away throughout the year. Our summer tours are a highlight of the year, both musically and socially. Recent tours have included: Brittany, France (2016), Lake Garda, Italy (2016), The Highlands, Scotland (2017), Porto, Portugal (2017), Brecon Beacons, Wales (2018), Ljubljana, Slovenia (2018), Italy (2022) and Santiago de Compostela, Spain (2023) singing high-calibre choral music in and around their most famous venues. Please note that we are only available during college term times. For the 2023/24 academic year: - 30 September 2023 – 15 December 2023 - 06 January 2024 – 22 March 2024 - 27 April 2024 - 28 June 2024

The choir had a wonderfully vibrant choral sound, and contributed in the worshiping life of the cathedral to the full, with imaginative, challenging and appropriate music choices for the season of Easter, and moreover, it was executed with excellence.

Customer questions

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

All sorts of churches and concert halls around the UK and Europe!

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

A concert and mass at the Cathedral in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

Do you have different line-up options?

Absolutely! Hire us as a full SATB choir, or any combination thereof. Would you like a male-only (lower voice) choir? No problem! Would you like a quartet or semichorus? We can do that too, just email [email protected]

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We'll try to be flexible - just email us ([email protected]) and we can figure something out.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

No, as we don't use any amplification or speakers.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually like to fit in a quick warm-up and rehearsal, but that can be done in under an hour.

Can you roam around while you perform?

No - choral music tends to work best when the singers are positioned together, in a horseshoe.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Absolutely.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

We don't use any equipment.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Sometimes - email us ([email protected]) and ask.
