Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Chris obtained a BA in Music from Brandeis University in Waltham, MA. He spent a post-graduate year at the Schaffhausen Konservatorium, Switzerland before moving to London to further his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. His violin and viola teachers have included Herbert Greenberg, András von Tószeghi and Simon Rowland-Jones. An experienced freelance orchestral musician, Chris has worked as principal and tutti viola in dozens of orchestras in the UK, Europe and Asia. He has performed internationally as a soloist and chamber musician, with a wide variety of musical partners. He is founding member, violist and manager of the Crystal Palace Quartet. Chris is also chairman of Camerata of London, a chamber orchestra and group of flexible ensembles. Chris started singing with Barts Choir in 2003. Since then he has been invited to sing with Midsummer Opera Chorus, Syred Consort, Anton Bruckner Choir, English Arts Chorale and many other vocal ensembles. He has studied with Emma Cavadino and John Upperton. Chris formed the Camerata Singers in 2005, a chamber choir consisting primarily of professional instrumentalists who also sing.
