Betty is a British-Russian soprano currently studying for an Artist Masters at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama under the tutelage of Susan Waters. She received a First Class Music BA from the University of Oxford (Exeter College).
Most recently, Betty has performed the role of Amor (Orfeo ed Euridice, Gluck) for New Sussex Opera and covered the role of Zerlina (Don Giovanni, Mozart) for HeadFirst Productions. Further operatic roles include Belinda (Dido & Aeneas, Purcell) at St Martin-in-the-Fields and for Woodhouse Opera, 2nd Lady and 2nd Spirit (The Magic Flute, Mozart) at GSMD, Lucia (The Rape of Lucretia, Britten), Falsche Angelle (The Tsar has his Photograph Taken, Weill) at the Bloomsbury Studio, Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro, Mozart), Vitellia (La Clemenza di Tito, Mozart), Drusilla (The Prophetess, Purcell), Amahl (Amahl and the Night Visitors, Menotti), and Phillidel/Cupid (King Arthur, Purcell). Chorus work includes performances for West Green House Opera, Westminster Opera Company, and as part of the Guildhall Consort with the Venice Baroque at the Barbican Hall (Juditha Triumphans, Vivaldi).
Concert apprearances have included solo performances at Cadogan Hall, St. John's Smith Square, St Martin-in-the-Fields, the Victoria & Albert Museum, Queen's House Greenwich, and the Holywell Music Room. Betty has sung the soprano solos of many works including Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Requiem, Vivaldi's Gloria, Fauré's Requiem, Brahms' Requiem, Bach's Magnificat, and Will Todd's Mass in Blue. She is also the soprano soloist on Exeter College Choir's world premiere recording of C. V. Stanford's Mass in G.
Betty greatly enjoys exploring contemporary repertoire and has performed with virtuoso pianist Jonathan Powell at several composition workshops for Oxford University's Music Faculty. She has held choral scholarships at Exeter College, Oxford and St Martin-in-the-Fields Church, London; she has also sung extensively with other choirs and consorts, including Oxford Voices, St Martin's Voices, Blenheim Singers, Locrian Singers, Oxford Bach Soloists, and Sansara. Through her choral singing, she has toured to the USA, Germany, Italy, Spain, and France. She recently recorded a CD of Pelham Humphrey verse anthems as part of the Oxford Voices consort, lead by Edward Higginbottom and accompanied by Instruments of Time and Truth.
