Anafae

Having begun vocal training and competitive singing at the age of 6 in both classical and musical theatre vocals Anafae has built up an extensive range of skills in her 21 years of musicianship. Playing piano from the age of 5 has allowed her to expand her understanding of complex harmony and rhythm and indulge her thirst for fusing together a wide range of musical styles when composing both for the instrument and for vocal melodies. She studied at The Sage Gateshead’s young musician’s program from 2009 to 2013 and took lessons in Popular Music Vocals, gaining a Dip.LCM and ALCM diploma at age 16, after which she gained a place to study classical vocals and piano at Chetham’s School of Music, Manchester. Her love for rock and metal began at 16 after being introduced to bands such as Linkin Park and Nightwish, the latter igniting her passion for the fusion of melodic female vocals over heavy guitar riffs. Her varied influences include Gustav Mahler, Amy Lee, Etta James, Myles Kennedy and Lacey Mosley. The male vocalist influences aid in creating a distinctive sound that draws on their style while melding the purity of her natural voice, resulting in the unusual sonance that flourishes in a wide variety of genres.
