Cellist based in London studying at the Royal Academy of Music. Member of the Kirkman Quartet.
Yurie Lee began playing the cello at the age of five before joining with a scholarship the Junior department at the Royal Academy of Music where she studied with Lara Moore, Bozidar Vukotic and Heather Harrison. She later received a scholarship to study at the Senior Royal Academy of Music with Jo Cole. Yurie made her concerto debut in 2015 performing Schumann's Cello Concerto with the Junior Academy Symphony orchestra and The Latymer School Symphony orchestra. She enjoys playing Chamber and Orchestral music and has been a member of the National Youth Orchestra of GB, Principal Cello of the Orion Orchestra and Young Musician's Symphony Orchestra. She has also worked with W11 Opera and Saffron Walden Opera. In 2015 she recorded alongside the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the BBC 10 pieces project. In 2017 she was invited to record music for BACCES' production of Robin Hood with members of the London Symphony Orchestra. Yurie appears frequently with the Royal Academy Orchestras and has been Principal Cello under the baton of Jac van Steen and in the RAM's production of Don Giovanni led by Gareth Hancock as well as Co-Principal in the Menuhin Competition Senior Final at the Royal Festival Hall and the St Alban's Organ Festival at St John Smith's Square. Later this year, Yurie will be performing at Garsington Opera in their production of Capriccio by Richard Strauss. Yurie has given solo and chamber music recitals at venues such as St-Martin- in-the-Fields, Wigmore Hall and Colston Hall. She has participated in solo and chamber masterclasses with the likes of Mario Brunello, Sung Won Yang, Guy Johnston, Adrian Brendel, The Doric Quartet, The Allegri Quartet, The Lawson Trio and The Maggini Quartet as well as masterclasses abroad with Colin Carr at Academie Musicale de Villecroze, Enrico Bronzi at the Salzburg Mozarteum Universität Sommer Akademie and Peter Bruns in Madrid Forum Musikae. She is currently the cellist of the Kirkman Quartet founded in late 2016 tutored by Levon Chilingirian. Yurie plays on a Hardie Cello kindly on loan from the Royal Academy of Music.
