Yuri Betancourt

Music has always been my passion, already started in my mums womb. When I was 11 though, I reached for my first instrument which was Andean flute Quena. At the same time I was discovered by my music teacher at school, who saw a lot of potential in me, as I taught myself how to play guitar and charango. I played a lot of Andean and Latin American music. My inspiration were Chilean bands like Illapu, Inti Illimani and Quilapayun. I was already performing on the stage in the front of large crowds, and from that moment I knew, that I want to be a musician. When I was 15 my taste of music had changed, as I came accros latin rock, pop music and indy rock. That time the guitar became my main instrument, and I found the power of my voice. I was practicing a lot and eventually, the guitar became a part of my body. Music gave me a lot of freedom to express myself, energy and become an open window for better life and travel. This is where I moved to UK and my adventure started on British music scene. My life as a musician became professional. I discovered new rhythms and styles thanks to the people I have met and played with, in many, multicultural projects on London Underground scene. This experience gave me knowledge and confidence to create my own sound and style, and the way I want to interpret the instrument I play. The music allowed me to be part of amazing projects, and play at all different kinds of venues. From pubs, restaurants, festivals, membership clubs to private parties in France, Spain and Italy.
