Chinese soprano Xinhui Lai, born in 1994, who is studying Master of Arts at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, currently under tutelage of tenor Iain Paton, Xinhui gave her first public performance as a soloist at four years old and has been involved in numerous performances with local children choir in her hometown. Xinhui started to be trained as a flautist from 2002 and won the First prize of The Dandelion Selective Activity For Young Artists in 2009. Afterwards, she started her professional vocal training from 2010 with professor Zhu Ailan at Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. Xinhui finished her Bachelor of Music education at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in July. Xinhui has participated in many choral works during her study at RCS, and also appears as a soloist in some charity and community performances around Scotland. Xinhui’s repertoire consists of different languages, such as English, Mandarin, Latin, Italian, German, French, Russian, Finnish, Swedish and Czech. Xinhui is particularly fond of Italian opera and Russian art songs. She has joined some competitions and received some very positive reviews. Regarding of opera performances, she has performed as Susanna from Le Nozze di Figaro, Despina from Cosi Fan Tutte, Miss Wordsworth from Albert Herring, Leonora from The beautiful bridegroom and Frasquita from Carmen.
