Ximena Abello

Ximena Abello has a Masters in Music (Merit) with an emphasis in Performance at Goldsmiths University of London, where she studied with Ashley Stafford. She completed her Bachelor at the ‘Pontificia Universidad Javeriana’ (Bogota, Colombia) with Dr. Carolina Plata. She has taken master classes with performers including Nicholas Mulray, Kathleen Wilson, Robert Brandt, Melba Ramos, Alexandra Zabala, Alejandro Escobar, and Carla Cottini. In 2012 she was a soloist at the Opera Gala "La Javeriana sings Mozart" held in the Auditorium Leon de Greiff with the Javeriana Symphony Orchestra in the Festival “Opera al Parque” in Bogota, Colombia. In 2013, she was a soloist in the Oratorio Judas Maccabaeus by G. F. Handel, accompanied again by the Javeriana Symphony Orchestra, performing concerts in different venues (Bogota and Zipaquira). In 2015 she was a soloist at the Opera Gala of the Javeriana University. She has participated in several recitals and opera galas in different art centers of Colombia (including the Foyer of the Teatro Colon among others), UK and Scotland. World-famous tenor Alejandro Escobar selected Ximena to participate actively in a lecture delivered by him and in the recital held in the "Colon acustico" series Teatro Colon. Ximena was selected as a scholar for the Salvi Foundation in the Cartagena International Music Festival 2015. During her studies in Colombia, she performed extracts from Offenbach’s opera Le Contes d’Hoffmann as Olympia, Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte as the Queen of the Night, and Bernstein’s Candide as Cunegonde. In 2017, she performed as Suor Angelica in Puccini’s opera, and as Belinda in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas for the OperaGold festival at Goldsmiths University. Also, in the same year she performed Gilda in Verdi´s Rigoletto for Clyde Opera Group in Glasgow, Scotland. In 2018, she took part in a workshop singing Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni for Corpus Animae Group in London, UK; and she sang Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro in December with the same company.
