Xavier began his musical career at the age of 9 as a chorister in Salisbury Cathedral. At 13 he attended Charterhouse as a Music Scholar and at 18 left there with a choral scholarship to St John's College, Cambridge. He graduated in 2015 with a first in Classics.
During his time in Cambridge Xavier played many roles in the productions of the University Opera Society including: Monostatos in 'The Magic Flute', Satan in Rhiannon Randel's 'Temptations, Lensky in 'Eugene Onegin' and Jephtha in 'Jephtha'. He also played Marco in the university Guilbert and Sullivan society's production of 'The Gondoliers'.
Xavier was a frequent soloist for the choir of St John's College especially in the chapel's termly 'cantata evensongs.' With the choir he performed in major venues across the UK and abroad including in Singapore's Esplanade Theatre, Birmingham's Symphony Hall, London's Festival and Royal Albert Halls and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. With the choir he also recorded many disks, at one point being described by Gramophone magazine as 'ethereal' for his performance of the solo in Mendelssohn's 'Ave Maria'.
As an independent soloist Xavier has performed chiefly oratorio repertoire in Ely, Durham, Louth, Cambridge, Salisbury and at the Ambronay festival in France with the consort Ghislieri Musica. He is looking forward to studying singing at postgraduate level in the near future.
