William started studying the oboe at the age of 15, having previously been a vocal student. Within a year, he was offered a place at the Royal Northern College of Music Junior School, where he studied oboe with Rachael Pankhurst, piano with Katherine Mercer and composition with Emily Howard. He continued his studies as an undergraduate at the Royal Northern with Melinda Maxwell, before transferring his studies closer to home in Liverpool. In 2012, William graduated with First Class Honours in Music, and received the Sue Willis prize for contribution to the life of the Music department. Whilst studying for his undergraduate, William studied with Ruth Davies (RLPO) and Jane Evans (Northern Chamber Orchestra). William's research interests lie in the arrangements for Harmoniemusik of the Mozart operas. William then went on to complete a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Primary, Music specialism). William plays regularly in the Liverpool/North West area. He is principle oboe of the Crosby Symphony Orchestra, and the newly formed Liverpool Bach Collective. He is also a keen chamber music performer, and has plans to produce a performance of the Mozart Operas arranged for Harmonie in the Summer of 2016. As a soloist, William has performed the Mozart oboe concerto, Salieri concerto for Flute and oboe, Cimarosa oboe concerto, Bach concerto for oboe d'amore, Mozart Sinfonia Concertante, Lebrun oboe concerto no.1 and the Haydn oboe concerto.
