Willard started the cello at the age of 4, he was a chorister in Wells Cathedral for three years, but stopped to concentrate on the cello at The Purcell School, with Alexander Boyarsky. Willard has played recitals with Barry Rose OBE on organ in 2014, and has since given recitals in Somerset, Wiltshire, in London and in Florence, Stia, Venice, Poppi and Osimo in Italy. Willard has performed solo concerts in St George's Hannover Square, St Martins in the Fields, St James Piccadilly, The Actors Church Covent Garden, St. James's Palace, The Foundling Museum, The Charterhouse, in Buckingham Palace, The Wigmore Hall, Goldsmiths Hall and The Barbican hall in London.
From 2014 Willard has been mentored by Vasily Petrenko the principal conductor of both the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestras.
