Vanessa is a freelance trombonist based in the UK and Sweden. She is currently studying an MA in Orchestral Performance at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, Sweden, where she is taught by Ingemar Roos and Jens Kristian Søgaard. The orchestral masters course in Gothenburg is also known as the Swedish National Orchestra Academy or 'SNOA'. Before moving to Gothenburg in 2017, Vanessa graduated from the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London a BMus in Performance (First Class Honours) where she studied with Graham Lee and Philip White. Some highlights of her time there include winning the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble Competition (GMT Brass Ensemble in 2016, Horizon Trombone Quartet in 2017), being a semi-finalist in the TL Soloist's competition and playing principal trombone with the TL Symphony Orchestra at Cadogan Hall. She has also performed in masterclasses with Dudley Bright, Matthew Gee, Lindsay Shilling, Zoltan Kiss and Sue Addison. As a freelance musician, Vanessa has performed with the Gothenburg Opera, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Chineke! Orchestra and many other orchestras across the UK and Sweden. As a chamber musician, she performs with the Horizon Trombone Quartet and the GMT Brass Ensemble.
