UTF formed in 2007 by retired British Champion marching band brass players, to old to march anymore, but still itching to play. Adding a rhythm section & some champion singers, UTF have been playing parties, weddings, festivals & parties every since. Based in Bristol, the west country is our patch - from Devon & Somerset to Gloucester & Warwickshire playing anywhere that appreciates a unique big brass sound, pop, rock and soul covers... and has a stage big enough for 12. (and no noise limiter!!)

I’ve been to see the band quite a few times over the years and they never fail to disappoint! The music is great, performed well and always very professional. They get the sound level just right, not too loud that your ears are ringing afterwards. I love to get up and boogie, I just can’t keep still once good music is playing, and at an Up the Function gig I’m barely off the dance floor!

Customer questions

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

We strive to make sure the line-up you see is what you get on the night. However, situations do arise which mean that may not be possible (e.g. illness). We have a number of 'dep' musicians ready to step in should that happen. You can be confident that all of our musicians are of the highest level & that we will not let you down.

Do you have different line-up options?

Our primary line up is: 2-3 singers, 5 brass Bass, Drums, guitar & keyboards.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We understand things change and timing & dates move. We do our upmost to accommodate changes to timings or dates - something we learned first hand during the pandemic. All we ask you keep us informed of your requirements and we will do all we can to help.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes. Playlists on an phone, tablet or laptop is standard in our package. If you want a DJ, we can source one for you at an additional cost.

How much time do you need to set up?

Setup time is normally 1-1.5 hours. As soon as the PA is ready, we can have music for you. We also like to play through a song in advance of the main performance to check the equipment & sounds levels.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We try to build a setlist for you to suit your event. But if you would rather pick n mix - feel free. (it's a long list to choose from!!!) We will send yo the final list for approval either way so if there's something you must hear, we will play it.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Yes - we bring everything we need for the event. All you need to supply is: Power (at least 2 or 3 13amp supplies) A stage area of at least 4x3 meters An audience ready for a good time.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a song isn't included in our song list there may still be a chance we already know it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we are happy to do this for you. However, there may be an additional fee if we need to buy arrangements etc.
