About Two's Company

Jazz duo
Public liability insurance of £10 million
Two's Company is a chilled-out sax and piano duo playing pop ballads and light jazz for weddings, lunches and launches.

Two's Company plays a vast array of contemporary ballads (Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding, etc.) and jazz standards (Autumn Leaves, Fly me to the Moon, I Loves you Porgy, etc.). Lloyd plays alto, tenor, soprano sax and clarinet, has performed in Carnegie Hall, New York, and twice appeared on television in Band Cymru. He is currently in his final year studying music at Cardiff University. Sue studied music at York and Cardiff University. After several years teaching by day and playing solo piano by night, she focused on educational consultancy, providing advice to schools, local authorities and central Government. She has now returned to her roots as a musician, and performs both as a soloist and as part of jazz duo, Two's Company. Classically trained, Sue has a huge repertoire from Bach to Bublé.  She also teaches piano and works as an accompanist.

Customer questions

Do you have different line-up options?

The standard line-up is saxophone and keys. This includes tenor, alto and soprano sax. We also do a couple of trad numbers on clarinet and keys, and can also do flute and keys, if requested.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We're both highly flexible. Please let us know if you think your timings might change slightly, and we will do our very best to accommodate this.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, of course!

How much time do you need to set up?

30 to 40 minutes is the usual set-up time. If the gig is local, we may set up earlier in the day to do a sound check, then return for the evening performance.

Can you roam around while you perform?

Lloyd has a radio mic so can roam around, but would prefer not to roam anywhere too busy in case a guest accidentally knocks his sax while it is in his mouth. (Mouths and lips are essential for wind players!)

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Of course!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Of course!

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We're also happy to learn new songs.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

The Lime Tree, Chepstow The Globe, Lydney Clearwell Castle Blaina Whart, Newport etc. etc.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Lloyd: "John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Stan Getz, Sonny Rollins, Joshua Redman, Michael Brecker" Sue: "It's got to be Bach!"

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Lloyd: "The Tramshed, Cardiff" Sue: "My wedding!"

If you're looking for classy background music, Two's Company is just what you need. I booked this duo for a business celebration, and everyone wanted to know where I'd found them. Really hoping we have another business deal to celebrate so I can book them again!

A brilliant experience! Sue was very quick to respond to organisational queries prior to the event. As musicians, Sue and Lloyd were first-class, and fitted in perfectly with the professional, yet relaxed, atmosphere of the launch.
