About Tunehead

For the hottest Funk, Soul, R&B and Acid Jazz! Amazing 5 piece party and festival band with the best grooves.
Disco & Funk band
Aylesbury
Public liability insurance of £5 million

Acid Jazz, Funk, and Soul is at the heart and soul of this 5 piece band formed in 2017 by 3 long term friends and musical collaborators. Tunehead have honed their skills performing and recording with a host of artists across many musical genres over the years. In the end it was inevitable they would get back to the music closest to their hearts – And you can feel the love for this funky, jazzy and edgy blend of irresistibly danceable music in their performance. If you’ve never heard of Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, The Average White Band or Grover Washington, its time you made their acquaintance! - But if these names conjure up memories of good times – then it's time to re-live them with Tunehead! There’s something for everyone in their repertoire. No one gets to remain in their seat! With striking melodies and dance rhythms, there's nothing they like better than to see an audience unable to stay in their chairs. Tunehead are based in the Home Counties and primarily play around London, the South East, Midlands and further afield. If you’re a funky monkey Tunehead will bring out the animal in you!

Tunehead played at The Upton Jazz Festival 2021 which was delayed from our usual June date until October because of Covid. They played on our outdoor covered stage at the Swan Hotel. The band are ‘as it says on the tin’ - funky, modern and a tight group of players. On a dreadful day they played a great set and held the audience. They’re also a pleasure to deal with. We’ve invited them back for 2022. Jon Parsons : Upton Jazz.

Tunehead are a fantastic live band performing classic jazz and funk tunes as well as more obscure numbers. Easy to work with they have a professional approach to their performances and would be a welcome addition to any live event / festival. Graham Steel – Director – Graham Steel Music Company

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

As an instrumental jazz & funk band we're different from the run-of-the-mill covers and tribute bands. There's something for everyone in our set - great melodies and grooves with touches of Latin, Rock, Blues and Pop - perfect for listening or dancing, and we get great responses wherever we play.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Upton Jazz Festival, Aylesbury Live in the Park festival, Bracknell Food and Music festival, The Hope Festival and numerous private parties, bars, restaurants and clubs.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

If you’ve never heard of Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, The Average White Band or Grover Washington, its time you made their acquaintance! - But if these names conjure up memories of good times - then its time to re live them!

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

We have played at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival on several occasions, on the 'in town' stage and in some of the smaller venues that are involved in the Festival.

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Yes. We keep to the same line-up unless someone becomes unavailable at short notice, in which case we would call on a tried and tested professional dep.

Do you have different line-up options?

We are a 'band' so keep to the same line up wherever possible. The line up is: Vocals/Sax, Guitar, Keyboards, Bass, Drums.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run-up to the event just let us know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We have an iPod of great tracks that we play between sets. We also work with some great DJs that can ...

How much time do you need to set up?

Depending on the type of event we can either arrive early to set and sound check before guests start arrive, or if the venue is in use we can set up quickly and do a short sound check. Set up time is typically 1.5 to 2 hours.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We have a repertoire of over 3 hours and will work with you to shape a set to suit your event. If you have specific timings for your event, for instance for guests arriving, reception drinks, dining, and dancing we can design the set accordingly.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

We have our own PA and a small lighting rig. For large venues we may need to hire in a larger PA and lighting equipment, costs on request.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We can learn new tunes on request if the music is available and / or they are not too time-consuming to learn, arrange and rehearse. Depending on the tune we may need to charge a fee to cover additional rehearsal time, further info on request.
