singer (Countertenor)
London

Tristram Cooke, counter-tenor, gained a postgraduate scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music, where he is studying for an MA in Performance with Glenville Hargreaves and Michael Chance. He showed early promise as a chorister at Ripon Cathedral, where the Director of Music considered that "he proved himself to be one of the most able boys I have had the good fortune to work with, an extremely competent musician and undoubtedly one of the best sightreaders I have come across". Recent solo performances include Handel's Messiah and Israel in Egypt, Vivaldi's Gloria and Magnificat, Bach's St John Passion, Haydn's Nelson Mass, Scarlatti's Dixit Dominus and Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb. In March 2015 he is due to perform in Purcell's The Fairy Queen at St John's Smith Square. Tristram is a deputy Vicar Choral at St Paul's Cathedral, and also deputises at a number of central London churches. He is a member of several professional chamber choirs, and regularly performs in Bach cantatas for Lutheran Vespers with the Sweelinck Ensemble at St Mary-at-Hill.
