I have extensive experience as an organist and choral director both in services and concerts, and advising about organ music choices for weddings, funerals and memorial services. I draw on a very large solo organ repertoire and in depth knowledge of sacred choral music, and have held roles at St Albans Cathedral, St Paul's Cathedral, and King's College Cambridge (where as Organ Scholar I twice played for A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, broadcast internationally). My wide-ranging solo discography encompasses over 20 commercial recordings (Messiaen, Schumann, Elgar, Judith Bingham and many other British composers) principally for Naxos and Toccata Classics. I have received Critics' Choice accolades from Gramophone magazine and the American Record Guide (twice). My high-profile recital engagements including recently in Hallgrímskirkja (Reykjavík), Cathedral of the Madeleine (Salt Lake City) and St Stephen's Cathedral (Vienna). I have given the first performance of many organ works, and and I am able to learn new and complex works quickly. I have vast experience as choral accompanist both at the organ and at the piano. I am used to adapting orchestral accompaniments for performance on the organ, and I have a deep knowledge of all major areas of church music. As a choral director, I have worked extensively with both amateur and professional choirs, including as director of St Albans Cathedral Girls Choir and as the current director of London Pro Arte Choir. I have significant organ continuo playing experience, including JS Bach's St Matthew Passion, St John Passion and B Minor Mass, and Handel's Messiah. I have been the organist for a many live broadcasts on BBC Radio and have been profiled on American Public Media's 'Pipedreams' programme. I am active as a piano accompanist, and hold an FTCL diploma in piano performance. I enjoy acting as rehearsal pianist and coaching soloists.

Tom Winpenny must be commended, not merely for his ability to master both the technical and interpretive challenges of this highly wrought music, but for ensuring that it is the music that always takes centre stage, and not his own extraordinary virtuosity. A magnificent achievement. [Review of Gerald Hendrie: Complete Organ Music vol. 2]
