Steeped in the traditions of American folk, country, gospel and blues, Tom's is an Americana style of Alt Country meets Greenwich Village Folk Revival. Hailing from Hastings on the South Coast of England, Tom crafts heartfelt songs from everyday life, with a softly understated vocal style underpinned by a mix of Merle Travis style fingerpicking and country flatpicking. Tom's new album 'Stops on the Way to Here' was released 22nd March 2024. Previous EPs 'The Road Less Travelled' and 'Ramblin' Man' are also from Bandcamp and on streaming services. As well as playing solo, Tom’s lucky enough to play with some of the best musicians in the local area under the guise of the Tom Cole Band, and also as a duo with long time musical collaborator Henry Bristow. Tom also hosts a regular evening: Sunday Sounds at the Brickmaker's Alehouse in Bexhill, introducing a quality guest folky songwriter, every last Sunday of the month.

Tom played for my Mother at her 80th birthday party. I have to say he was excellent. All the guests loved him and he was very kind and gracious during the event. What also was remarkable, Toms communication in the lead up to the day was very good and he actually learnt new sings to play. Highly recommended.

Tom performed the late afternoon slot at our Mini Festival- With a mixture of his own songs and acoustic interpretations of other folk and country style pieces, Tom really gave a lovely chilled accompaniment to the Sunny afternoon. His skilled Musicianship was greatly appreciated by myself and the 100 plus gathered to enjoy the day’s entertainment. Tom arrived well in time for his slot and was smart and really was a true professional during his performance. We Would definitely recommend him for a country / folk type of event and acted 10/10 from us. See you next time Tom!..

Tom was really helpful prior to the event and provided lots of info to inform me about his music. His videos are really helpful. His voice is mellow and provides a great ambience. People could listen or chat during the performance. Tom is a great guitarist. All round a really lovely chap that is keen to provide the best experience for your event.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Just let me know. The majority of the time it won't be a problem.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I have bluetooth and headphone jack connectivity for my PA system if you'd like to connect your own device. Or I can put on a playlist for you.

How much time do you need to set up?

45 minutes is ample for me solo.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

By all means let me know if there's anything you'd like included in set. Do let me know ahead of time though so that I have time to rehearse them, some songs I play more than others.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, I have my own PA system and equipment.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If there's a particular song you'd like, do let me know. If it's a song that fits the style I play, and the event is isn't particularly soon, I'll be happy to learn it for you. Additional songs, or songs very much outside my style, will be £100 for time spent learning and rehearsing.
