I am a trumpet player, percussionist, Musical Director and recent graduate of Leeds College of Music after studying BA Hons. Music (Jazz) as a trumpet player.
Since I began playing, I have received many accolades, not least performing in the National Youth Wind Orchestra (NYWO) for 2 years. During this time I performed at the Royal Albert Hall as a part of the 2012 BBC Proms season, which included a debut performance of a composition written by Gavin Higgins. I have played in ‘the pit’ and been Musical Director for a number of theatre shows in the East Midlands and North of England. More recently I was the trumpet player for the 2014-15 Sheffield Theatres pantomime, Dick Whittington, produced by Evolution Pantomimes and have since done a short contract for Saga Cruises which involved performing in a big band with some of the UK's finest jazz musicians.
For 3 years, I was a regular member of the trumpet section in the Leeds College of Music Contemporary Jazz Orchestra and have performed original works by leading jazz musicians Neil Yates and Richard Iles, Ben Cottrell, Tim Garland and Callum Au. I was the Musical Director for the Leeds College of Music SU Big Band in it’s second year of existence, which provided opportunities to perform at, and organise reputable performances across the North. We travelled to Belgium in June 2015 for a number of very successful performances. I have studied trumpet under tuition from Richard Iles, Mark Chandler, Neil Yates & Steve Fishwick and conducting from Jonathan Lo.
I regularly play in Nottingham based function band ‘Funkified’ and perform as a freelance trumpeter in many genres including pop music, funk/soul, jazz, orchestral and musical theatre.
