Having live music at your event adds a unique and memorable touch that you and your guests or clients will remember. I am an experienced and versatile pianist specialising in jazz, available for all kinds of events and performances. I am a skilled performer and improviser, taking influence from great pianists such as Herbie Hancock, Oscar Peterson, Errol Garner and Robert Glasper. I have a really strong foundation in both classical and jazz piano. Alongside working in education for the past 6 years, I have maintained a busy performing schedule for creative projects and for functions, weddings, events and session work. Having worked not just as a performing musician, but as a teacher, I really value professionalism, transparency, good planning and clear communication. I know how important these are to clients, so your mind can be at ease on the day of your event. A quick chat can be arranged in order to discuss your needs from me, both logistically and musically. Background about me as a musician; Having studied at Junior RWCMD and Manchester University, I received a top-class and broad musical education in piano, trumpet, composition and theory. I am an experienced bandleader and have led all manner of groups, as well as managing and directing the Manchester University Big Band whilst at university. I also ran grassroots jazz events for MSC Records for 4 years in Manchester. I have performed regularly on the Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds music scenes with artists and bands such as Jude the Obscure, Ni Maxine, Hesta Banks, [K S R], as well as performing at festivals such as Kendal Calling, Glastonbury, Africa Oye in Liverpool, Lancaster, Manchester Jazz and Brecon Jazz Festivals with various groups. I am also an experienced performer of Bhangra and Bollywood music with the Manchester-based Desi District. Whatever music you requires, don't hesitate to send us a message to ask what is possible! Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always aim to be flexible and allow additional time around performances in case timings have to change. If timings change, please just let me know as soon as you can and in most cases this should not be a problem!

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

An iPod/playlist is certainly possible prior to the piano performance, during my break and for a short time after the piano performance is finished. This does not incur any additional cost, however, please ask in advance about this service in advance!

How much time do you need to set up?

I aim to arrive and set up around 1 hour before the performance, to allow time for load in and a soundcheck, and then a short break before starting to play and to allow time for any necessary discussions with organisers.

If I have a piano at my venue, are you happy to perform on that?

Absolutely; as long as the piano is in good working order and relatively tuneful, this would be perfect!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Please have a look through the extensive set list for any particular songs; if there is a particular vibe or atmosphere you want to create, then we can talk through this as well!

Are you able to bring your own piano or keyboard?

Yes! This is the normal course of action.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If you would like a particular song that is not included on the extensive set-list, please just ask no less than 2 weeks in advance! If there are several specific songs that incur rehearsal time, this may incur a charge for this time as well. Please just ask!
