Tom Stanyard - Tenor & Organist

Tom Stanyard is a Tenor, Conductor and Organist based in South Derbyshire. In addition to a busy singing schedule as a Tenor Soloist across the Midlands, he is currently director of Concordia Choir in Ashby-de-la-Zouch and the Swadlincote Messiah Choral Society; and Organist for the Cistercian Abbey of Mount St. Bernard in North West Leicestershire. Tom studied with Mezzo-Soprano Karen Radcliffe and graduated with a music degree from Keele University in 2012. He undertook a Licentiate Diploma in Singing Performance with the Royal Schools of Music in 2018. He currently studies with Alexandre Naoumenko at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Tom has sung a very varied repertoire in a number of venues, including the Cathedrals of Derby, Ely, Gloucester, Guildford, Lichfield and Worcester, the Victoria Hall, Stoke-on-Trent, St James the Greater, Leicester, The Quad, Derby and many smaller venues as both chorister and soloist. Recent highlights as a soloist have included Schumann Dichterliebe (accompanied by Alexander Binns), Rachmaninoff Vespers, Finzi Ode to St. Cecilia, Respighi Lauda per la nativite de la Signore, Handel Messiah and Dixit Dominus, Mahler Lieder eines fahrenden gesellen, Mozart Requiem and Litanie Lauretanae, Goodall Eternal Light: A Requiem, Rossini Petit Messe Solennelle and Haydn Creation, Mass in Time of War and St Nicholas Mass. As an organist Tom has played for a wide variety of church services, funerals and weddings across the Midlands since 2004. He is used to working with different instruments and getting the best out of them, especially where they may be infrequently used or not fully operational!
