Singer (tenor)
Coalville

Hi there, I'm a South Derbyshire based tenor and organist with ability to travel. I have been singing professionally for over 10 years, and graduated with a music degree from Keele University in 2012. I undertook a Licentiate Diploma in Singing Performance with ABRSM in 2018, and currently study with Alexandre Naoumenko at the Royal Opera House, London. I have sung a very varied repertoire in a number of venues, including the Cathedrals of Ely, Guildford and Derby, Victoria Hall, Hanley, St James the Greater, Leicester, plus many smaller venues as both chorister and soloist. Highlights as a tenor soloist have included Rachmaninoff Vespers, Finzi Ode to St. Cecilia, Respighi Lauda per la nativite de la Signore, Handel Messiah and Dixit Dominus, Mahler Lieder eines fahrenden gesellen, Mozart Litanie Lauretanae, Goodall Eternal Light: A Requiem, Rossini Petit Messe Solennelle and Haydn Creation, Mass in Time of War and St Nicholas Mass. I also have a love for opera and have performed arias and excerpts as Bajazet, Handel Tamerlano, Count Almaviva, Rossini Barber of Seville, Cavaradossi, Puccini Tosca, Rodolfo, Puccini La Boheme, Prince Tamino, Mozart Magic Flute, Massenet's Werther, Tonio, Donizetti La Fille du Regiment, Nemorino, Donizetti L'elsir D'amore. As an organist I have been playing since 2004 for a variety of church services, funerals and weddings across the Midlands. I am used to working with different instruments and getting the best out of them, especially where they may be infrequently used or not fully operational. I have played a number of prominent instruments including those at St James the Greater, Leicester, St Wystans, Repton and Trent College, Long Eaton. I am currently one of the organists at the Cistercian Abbey of Mount St. Bernard and also 'dep' at various Churches in South Derbyshire/North West Leicestershire.

I have always found his voice to be very pleasant and well formed in the English vocal style - light, flexible and ringing. He has relished the opportunities to sing a varied repertoire including Palestrina, Bryd, Handel, Mozart, Kodaly and Finzi among others. He has a good aural sense and he has experience of singing in the principal vocal languages including Italian, German, Latin and French. His vocal technique is sound.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

If timings change, please give me as much notice as possible so that I can try to be available. I will try to be flexible.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Not applicable.

How much time do you need to set up?

Generally I will try to arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the event if not a little before to see the venue and check the instrument or performing locations.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

I am happy to discuss repertoire to suit your needs and wishes.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

For singing, yes. As organist, most churches will provide their own instrument but I can use a keyboard if required.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Yes I will endeavour to learn new music ahead of the event, but cannot guarantee it - dependent on difficulty and how much time there is until the event.
