Colin was a ceilidh caller for our gala dinner. He had a big group of people straight up on the dance floor dancing away with clear instructions. Colin was very punctual, professional and friendly. We had great feedback from our delegates. Colin has a lovely voice and finished off the night singing Auld Lang Syne. I wouldn't hesitate to book Colin again and will be recommending him to others.

Colin "The Tartan Tenor" was amazing everyone at the wedding said they really enjoyed him. After the meal can be abit of a slump and he certainly helped to get the wedding going again. His choice of songs got people dancing and I was so pleased that he agreed to do Walking on Waves as his last one as it is the brides favourite and certainly made the whole thing more special to her. Definitely would recommend him and use him again. Thanks Colin 😊

We hired Colin for our wedding as a Ceilidh caller and I couldn’t recommend him more! So patient, especially with an inexperienced Welsh crowd, but it went down a storm.

We booked Colin's services for a Burns Night Supper in the Combined Mess of an MoD establishment and was not disappointed. Having been left high and dry by bands cancelling bookings or arriving late for functions in the past, I have to say Colin put me at my ease straight away. His communication was excellent from the outset of the booking. His warm, patient and generous nature on the night added to the atmosphere. His skill in guiding a collection of very "novice" dancers was invaluable. Suffice to say, a fantastic time was had by all and I would not hesitate in recommending his services to anyone looking for (in my opinion) a much better alternative to a conventional ceilidh band.

Colin is so easy to work with, very friendly and accommodating. The performance of the songs from musicals from both himself and his fellow singers was wonderful. They had great interaction, covering the large space for all 230 guests and the atmosphere created on board the ship was fantastic. Well worth the 2 years wait for this evening, and we certainly will be booking and working with Colin again”

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

My clients love how engaging I am throughout my performances. I wear my heart on my sleeve so my personality always shines through no matter the performance setting. They also love the banter that is laced through my performance sets as it makes the whole act accessible. Being a performer is not about ego - it's about sharing an experience and entertaining.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I have been very fortunate to have performed all over the UK and internationally across wedding and corporate venues, cruise ships, regional theatres, hotels, cathedrals, concert halls and castles. Venues include, Buda Castle (Budapest), Gleneagles, the Balmoral, Leeds Castle, HMS Warrior, Goodwood House, National Museum of Scotland and the Cunard Fleet.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

My influences are very varied as I strongly believe artists can (and should aspire to) learn from each other regardless of the genre they specialise in. Doing so only enhances the job which, at the end of the day, whether you sing opera or folk music, is to entertain. My main influences have been Freddie Mercury Alfie Boe, Andrea Bocelli and Hugh Jackman.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

The most high profile gig I have performed at was at a corporate dinner (250 people) for a private client in July 2019. The setting was the stunning Buda Castle in Budapest which boasts phenomenal architecture and views looking out over the Danube River and toward Pest. For this contract I performed a short set of West End classics including Bring Him Home.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

No problem, get in touch and we can discuss how best to reaccomodate the performance.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

This tends not to be necessary around the types of performances I provide.

How much time do you need to set up?

If providing my own PA, typically no more than one hour is needed to set up and sound check. If PA is provided by the client, then usually no more than 20mins.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Yes, although certain performance packages have been specially written with a fixed set list designed for best effect. Happy to discuss all details with the client.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

I am able to provide my own PA however for larger events that are using AV company then it's much easier to use their equipment.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

I can do, however this comes at a small surcharge of £25 to cover cost of learning and rehearsing the new rep and purchasing necessary high end backing track/s to perform the song to.
