The Sim Jones Trio has played many times over the years in venues as diverse as Harrods Fine Jewellery Dept, and The Sexy Fish Mayfair, as well as many corporate and private events. We play a mix of Django, American Songbook, and Jazz Standards including Latin and Bossa - and are happy to accommodate to your theme of music - we've performed for Peaky Blinders and Latin themed events. Sim Jones has performed at The Royal Albert Hall with Ian Gillan and Roger Glover of Deep Purple, and on Wogan with The Chicken Shed Theatre Company. As well as touring in Europe with several different acts, and sessions on albums. The Sim Jones Trio have played at a number of our family functions over the past 20years - most recently my 60th birthday party and before that at our 25th Wedding Anniversary, as well as many other family gatherings. Sim is a hugely talented and charismatic Jazz Violinist and Guitarist, whose repertoire extends from Gipsy Jazz, Latin Numbers, Popular Classics, through to original improvisations. His musicality shines through everything he plays, and he has, without fail, put together a wonderful arrangement of fun and joyful musical entertainment for us. He and his band are highly versatile, and able to adapt to both intimate indoor settings, as well as outdoor amplified performances. He has always managed to assemble the perfect combination of other instrumentalists from his numerous musical friends - perfectly suited to the occasion. Sometimes background ambient music is what you need - and he has always been happy to provide this - but, more often than not, his performances become a focal point of the occasion in their own right. Our friends have often commented on how much they have enjoyed his music, and many have asked for his contact details in order to book him for their own events. I would like to say thank you to The Sim Jones Trio. They played at my 60th birthday and were superb. They have since played for my friend Paul's 60th and we will certainly ask them to play for us again. Sim also played an improvised version of Scheherazade Violin Solo for my mother's funeral which was very touching. Fully recommend them as musical impresarios. Regards, Julian

Customer questions

Do you have different line-up options?

The Trio consists of Violin, Guitar, And Double Bass. Augmentations to this are available on request - including 2nd Guitar, Singer, and Drums. As we're all professional musicians, one or several of us could be already booked, so we reserve the right to change personnel with an equally talented player.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We allow for a certain amount of flexibility in timings - I'm not sure I've ever played a Wedding that has gone exactly to plan! So please just let us know, if there's any slight change to your plans.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, however if you require specific tracks being played, I use a bluetooth system and you can play your chosen music through our P.A. system.

How much time do you need to set up?

Generally we like to have 1hr of setting up, which would include a sound check. This may be longer if the performance area is difficult to get to.

Can you roam around while you perform?

Yes, in principle, as all the instruments are acoustic. However if you've asked for Drums, in general they don't move once set up. Amplification in our music is there to 'Balance' the different volume levels of each instrument or voice.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yes, if you let us know beforehand and we can discuss it - although we've all performed for many different gigs over the last few decades, and now have a very good idea of what works.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Generally we would include the use of the P.A. in the quote - Although If the venue incurs the Congestion and ULEA charges, these would have to be additional to the original fee. Our P.A. is of a high quality designed for Acoustic Instruments and vocals, and not one designed just for Disco or DJ.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes, for an extra fee we would learn a request - as long as you let us know with enough time beforehand, and if they're in keeping with our normal repertoire ie Jazz Music from 1920's and 1930's.
