When London musicians Yiannis, Alex and James started The Tricks they had one goal in mind: To create a band that mixes through songs like a DJ and deliver mind-blowing live experiences. We are not your average function band. Our trademark, DJ-style medleys & mashups will create an incredible, high energy atmosphere and deliver a night of non-stop music and dancing. When it comes to repertoire there's not many styles we don't play and we're constantly updating our sets with the latest bangers. Whether it's Indie, 00's R&B, American punk, wedding classics or 80's bangers we've got something for everyone. We can provide all the music you'll need to make your day truly unforgettable. Browse our options below and customise a package to suit you. Evening Party Set: 3-4 piece band, 2hr performance. Vocals/guitar, bass, drums, (keys). PA & Lighting: Pro PA speakers and stage/dance floor lighting. Ceremony Set: 20 min acoustic set while guests arrive. Plus a walk in/out song. Drinks Reception Set: 1 hour acoustic set while you mingle with guests. Party DJ: DJ performing between and after band sets or we can provide a Spotify playlist. Mics For Speeches: 1-3 mics with stands and speakers plus a playlist for the meal. What do your clients love most about your performances?

The way we mix from one song to the next creates so much fun and excitement for both the audience and us. We wanted to take what a DJ does and apply it to a live band. We've worked for years to perfect our trademark band mixing style and we're constantly adding to our repertoire.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We started off performing as an originals band called Brother & Bones where we toured with the likes of Sam Fender, Bastille and Ben Howard. Since launching The Tricks we've toured ski resorts, we've played at all the big London hotels and have performed for a few high-profile clients including both Ben Stokes and Isa Guha's Weddings.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Led Zepplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Sam Fender, Bastille, Royal Blood.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

We once performed a small intimate, living room gig for Richard Branson. We've also performed to 20,000 people at Cropriddy Festival.

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

We strive to make sure the line-up you see is what you get on the night. We do have pre-audititioned 'dep' musicians available in case a band member falls ill or is unavailable. As a professional band our reputation means everything so you can be confident that all of our players are of a very high level.

Do you have different line-up options?

Our line-up is Vocals/Guitar, Bass Drums and optional Keyboard

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We are very flexible and want to make sure everything runs to plan. Before your event we'll send you a coordination sheet to complete. This helps ensure we have everything we need to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We'll send you a music form to complete which will give us an idea of your music preferences. We'll use this to build a Spotify Playlist for in between band sets, ensuring there are no cross-over songs. Alternatively you can upgrade and book our DJ option. This includes manned DJ, DJ booth and ability to take requests on the night.

How much time do you need to set up?

Approximately 90min to load in and set. Times may vary depending on venue access. As soon as our speakers are set up we can put a playlist and start getting the party going.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Our set lists are crafted from countless performances and learning what works best to ensure guests dance and have an amazing time. However, we're definitely happy to chat through and make sure we find what works for your event.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Our PA and lighting system is included in your quote. We usually require a minimum of 3 by 4 metres space to perform.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a song isn't included in our song list there may still be a chance we already know it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we are happy to do this for you. There is a fee of £40 for this service to take into account rehearsal times etc. We do however learn first dances for free.
