The Sparrows of Paris / Les Moineaux de Paris

Headed by Parisian chanteuse Carolyn Saint-Pé, The Sparrows of Paris transport you in time and place to Paris in the 1930s with a repertoire of vintage french chansons, jazz-musette and gypsy jazz with accordion, guitar, double bass and clarinet. The Sparrows of Paris have been playing in the UK, France and Belgium for the last 6 years and are known by their french speaking fans by their french name Les Moineaux de Paris. The Sparrows of Paris continue the tradition of the bals musette, the popular social dances of the 1930s with javas, valses musette, tangos and the odd foxtrots. The Sparrows of Paris’ repertoire also includes the authentic musette of the 1930s and 40s (now renamed jazz-musette to differentiate it from the musette of the 1960s onwards) as well as gypsy jazz as played by Django Reinhardt, Gus Viseur, Emile Prud’Homme, the Péguri brothers, Emile Vacher, Tony Murena and other great accordionists and jazz-musette musicians of the authentic musette music genre. The band plays vintage french chansons originally sung by Edith Piaf, Frehel, Mistinguett, Arletty, Charles Trenet and many more and can tailor their repertoire to provide vintage french lounge music for a more sophisticated sound.
