The Rock Ceilidh Band are a truly electric four piece ceilidh band with fiddle, bass (of course), electric guitar and drums, adding an exciting, modern twist to traditional Ceilidh music. We enjoy having fun, and our sole aim is to make sure that you do too! Our musicians have more years combined experience than they care to admit both at home and internationally, and hail from Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Central Belt - we play most places in Scotland, from the Borders to Perthshire. We specialise in weddings, and we also play ceilidhs for St Andrews Night, St Patricks Day, Burns Suppers, Christmas nights out, school dances, birthday parties, fund-raisers and corporate events.

We had the absolute pleasure of having The Rock Ceilidh Band play at our wedding in Edinburgh last week, and we couldn’t be happier with our choice. From the very beginning, their communication was outstanding – clear, friendly, and totally professional. On the day itself, they were incredibly flexible with timings, which helped everything run smoothly. But above all, they are phenomenally talented. The ceilidh was a real highlight – we had guests from over 20 nationalities, many of whom had never experienced a ceilidh before, and they were all up dancing and loving it. Mary, the caller, was exceptional. She made everyone feel welcome and confident, and had a great sense of humour that brought the room together. She also made my wife Karolina and me feel really special, which meant a lot. The Polish guests in particular are now super keen on arranging a future event to have band play and get another ceilidh under their belts! The entire band brought such energy and joy to the night – they’re not only musically brilliant, but also unique and charismatic performers. And when they transitioned into the disco set, the energy did not drop. They read the room perfectly and brought the night to a perfect, emotional close. Wow, what a night! Mary and the band were absolutely fantastic - the combination of Scottish trad music, with classic rock tunes was perfect to get all our wedding guests out on the dance floor. Mary’s communication before and after the event was superb, and able to answer all our questions with ease. For all lot of our guests, it was their first introduction to ceilidh dancing, and Mary was brilliant in her instructions to all dances! It was the highlight of our wedding for most of our guests! Thank you again for a great night, and making our wedding extra special!

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Our clients love the 'rock' elements to our ceilidhs which are a lovely unexpected surprise for them. In addition, they enjoy that our dances are very easy so that anyone can do them. In addition our guests love the banter we use when giving instructions.

Can you perform covers?

We do not perform covers but we do bring disco with us as standard to ensure we can cater to all and every request.

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes, our standard line up is a 4-piece 'rock ceilidh' band comprising of fiddle/caller, electric guitar, bass guitar and drums. Our 3-piece 'rock ceilidh' band consists of fiddle/caller, electric guitar and drums. Our 2-piece 'traditional' ceilidh band consists of fiddle/caller/stompbox + guitar, and solo fiddle.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let us know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, absolutely - this is what happens on a typical evening.

How much time do you need to set up?

We require one hour to set up and sound check after we load our equipment into the venue.

Do you provide a caller?

Yes, we are all experienced callers and we give the instructions using fun-filled banter and have called for many international events. We cater for all ages and abilities.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yes, of course!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA) included in your quote?

Our PA and lighting system is included in your quote. For floor space, we usually require a minimum of 1 square metre per musician.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We do not sing, however we will be delighted to play your song through our PA system.
