About The Reel Hoosewives Ceilidh Band

Vibrant and inclusive ceilidh band available for weddings, parties, student societies, Burns' Nights etc. throughout Scotland!
Ceilidh band
Scotland, UK
Public liability insurance of £1 million

We Reel Hoosewives deliver professional, friendly and high-energy ceilidhs for weddings, parties and events of every flavour throughout Scotland. We combine top-level musicianship with the high-energy enthusiasm that'll keep your dance floor packed all night. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive ceilidh band, using gender-neutral calling to help make everyone feel welcome at a ceilidh, as everyone should. Leading the charge is Chris, our phenomenal fiddle player and dance caller. With over a decade of experience, both playing and leading everyone through the steps, he can read the room like the very best of them, from Reeling Societies to English relatives to don't have a scooby. Everyone will be flying through the Dashing White Seargant in no time with Chris at the fore. John, our guitarist, and has been playing professionally for thirty years, and is the best accompanist there is. If you’re on a tighter budget, John and Chris are the perfect option, and have led ceilidhs with 150 guests just the two of them. Joe, our drummer, has toured extensively across the UK and Ireland, and brings real power to the ceilidh stage. His rock-solid rhythms tie the whole ensemble together and keep the energy surging from the first Gay Gordons to Auld Lang Syne. Stephen, our singer and guitarist, is a brilliant edition to the band, belting out party anthems and country favourites if you're looking for a more varied experience. When it’s time to switch from reels to party bangers, Stephen's who you're after. From the Gleneagles Hotel ballroom to a freezing boatshed on Kerrera, village halls, university society nightclubs, we've played for all kinds of people, and provide everyone the same impeccable service. From last minute student society ceilidhs, charity Burns' Nights, weddings, birthday parties - you name it! - we are the most competitive ceilidh band around, and will give you the most incredible bang for your buck.

he Reel Hoosewives Ceilidh Band played at our work Christmas party, and they were genuinely one of the highlights of the whole night. From the moment they started, they brought an incredible energy that completely lifted the atmosphere. What impressed me most was how amazing they were at getting everyone involved. They taught the dances so clearly and made even the people who had absolutely no clue feel confident, included, and excited to join in. They were warm, funny, and so talented! Thanks so much for an amazing night!! :)

I just wanted to say HUGE thank you for playing at the reception. Everyone had a great time and the client was very happy and even mentioned that is was the first reception they had organised that their guests had danced, so well done. We look forward to working with you in the future.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

We're a very relaxed ceilidh band and we love to give people a really tailored experience. We are more than happy to accommodate any and all requests (within some reason) of an evening. But if we can do it, we can do it.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We've played at all kinds of venues from boatsheds on the island of Kerrera to the Library Rooms off Edinburgh's Royal Mile. No venue is too big, too wee - you name it, we'll work it!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Regarding the more ambient melodies which we play on the fiddle and guitar, we're taken by beautiful folk melodies and more classical pieces too.

Can you perform covers?

Yes, no problem. We have a range of modern covers we're happy to perform in addition to the traditional Ceilidh music.

Do you have different line-up options?

Our usual line-up consists of fiddle, guitar and dance caller. We also have an option of playing with a full drum kit, which you are able to add on in your booking under '4 piece'.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let us know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes we're more than happy for others to play their own music through our PA system between sets.

How much time do you need to set up?

No more than 1 hour to get set-up and sound checked.

Do you provide a caller?

Yes we do! We have a fantastic caller as part of our Ceilidh band so just let us know whether you already have one, or don't need one, so we can adjust our line-up accordingly!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Of course, we'll be performing at your behest, so just let us know what you'd like either ahead of time and we can learn a tune or ask us on the night (and we'll probably know it!). Happy to have the ceilidh dancing in whatever order you'd like.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA) included in your quote?

Our PA is included in your quote. We usually require a minimum of 3 by 3 metres to perform (roughly!)

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a song isn't included in our song list there may still be a chance we already know it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we are happy to do this for you. There is a fee of £30 for this service to take into account rehearsal times etc.
