The Mj's

Introducing....The Mj's! No we aren't a Michael Jackson Tribute......We are Jody, James, James, Mick and Malc! We came together in November 2021. We have all been playing in various bands together and thought why not start a brand new one! First up we have our powerful vocalist Jody! Jody studied musical theatre from a young age. Jody comes from a very musical family, her Dad was a professional musician and studied at The Royal College of Music. Jody's mum a professional singer and Jody's brother a bassist, vocalist and songwriter. Jody has performed with her family and independently in some very prestigious venues such as The London Palladium, The Royal Albert Hall, Theatre Royal Drury Lane and Her Majesty's, Jody has also performed abroad in Disneyland Paris and Cyprus. Jody's biggest achievement was reaching the Semi Finals on Britain's Got Talent with her Caberet Show "Meatdiva" in 2013. Jody currently also performs in a Disco Funk Band called "The Fabulous Funky Funks" which she started in 2010 with her Dad. Jody plays in a duo with her brother Lee and also in another duo called Jody T and Mickey B. That brings us onto our next musician Mick! Mick started playing guitar from the age of .. playing in many bands Secondly we have our awesome drummer James! James has been playing drums for 20 years, during which he spent three years at The Academy of Contemporary Music. Influences include John Bonham, Taylor Hawkins and Jeff Pocaro Over the years Jmaes has performed at venues throughout the UK. His main strengths are Rock, Indie, Pop and Funk but also likes to play Jazz and Rock and Roll. The most memorable venue that James has performed at is The O2! Our second James is our Rhythm Guitarist! James started playing guitar at the age of 10, drawing huge inspiration from some of the best guitar music from the 50's to the late 80's thanks to his mum's awesome taste in music. Influences include Chuck Berry, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Eric Capton and many more were featured on her turntable and and tape decks. James has carried a love of a variety of styles with him to the present day. James is quite late coming to the party with playing semi professionally but nothing beats gigs where you have the whole venue on the dance floor begging for more!! Last but not least our bassist Malc! Malc first started playing the piano at the age of 8. He has been an active all-round musician for over thirty years, having played a variety of instruments (bass,keyboards,guitar and sax) in various different bands whilst maintaining a parallel career as a solo vocalist. His influences include Chic, Toto, Level 42 and The Stranglers. Favourite gig? any gig where i can see the entire crowd getting their groove on!
