The Kraken Ceilidh Band are a six piece folk rock band based in Greater Manchester. First formed in 2010, The Kraken play a mix of modern and traditional tunes as well as some originals. We are made up of tin whistles, accordion, mandolin, mandola, bass, and drums in a punchy line up which brings huge energy no matter what the occasion. If you are unfamiliar with ceilidh dancing we have a select group of experienced callers who will walk you through the dances before the music starts, and keep you hyped up every step of the way while you strut your stuff. The Kraken is available to book either as the full six-piece band plus a caller and PA system, which we recommend for most occasions and venues, or a smaller acoustic lineup which we recommend for more intimate and cozy settings. The Kraken also come with our own in-house PA system and sound engineering - just give us mains access and we will turn up, set up, and ceilidh! Drop us a message for further details on booking.

Customer questions

Do you have different line-up options?

We have the full six-piece band which we would recommend for the majority of performances. If you have a cozy and intimate event planned then we also have an acoustic option available for more low-key events.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Please let us know as soon as possible if there are any alterations to the event timings, and we will always do our best to accommodate any changes.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes! We have background music between sets. If you would like to keep our PA system after the ceilidh is finished we're happy to facilitate this for an additional fee.

How much time do you need to set up?

We will need access to the performance space at least an hour and a half before our scheduled start time to get set up and sound checked.

Do you provide a caller?

Yes! We always include a brilliant caller as part of our service.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA) included in your quote?

Yes! We come with our own PA system and sound engineering, so all we need from you is access to mains power and we'll be good to go.
