I like to book The Klezmonauts for Newtown Food Festival every year. Last year they played on Sunday 8th September. We are a small outdoor festival and they provided lively and exotic music to create a party feel and they kept people's feet tapping, despite the rain!

I booked the Klezmonauts for an event celebrating the work done so far on the restoration of the Merthyr Tydfil Synagogue. The band came highly recommended by very experienced professional Klezmer musicians who were not available for the event. The band performed a wonderful selection of music to a varied audience, for some it was their first experience of Klezmer music. All were thrilled at the experience some even did impromptu dancing. The musicians adapted quickly to the audience, a sign of their professionalism and thorough preparation. From an organiser's position it was easy to work with the band and the Synagogue management team will ask for them at any further events.

Customer questions

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes. We normally play as a 6-piece band whenever possible, we can play as a 4- or 5-piece if requested.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let us know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, we can make our PA system available to play recorded music between our sets – either from your own device or supplied by us. If you wish to have use of our PA outside our playing time (e.g. after our final set), there is a supplementary charge.

How much time do you need to set up?

We like to allow 2 hours from load-in to the start of our performance. This ensures we can have everything set up properly before the start time and begin our set on schedule.

Can you roam around while you perform?

Yes, we can roam around whilst playing. Our keyboard player can switch to guitar when we do this.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Our set lists are crafted from countless performances and learning what works best to ensure guests dance and have an amazing time. However, we're definitely happy to chat through and make sure we find what works for your event.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Our PA system is included in your quote. We do not have our own lighting rig but are happy to work with whatever lighting is available in the venue.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a tune is not included in our tune list there may still be a chance we already know it. If there is a particular tune within the Klezmer genre you'd like us to learn, we are happy to do this for you. There is a fee of £30 for this service to take into account rehearsal times etc.
