Whether it’s your song to walk down the aisle to, beautiful music for cocktail hour, a sophisticated dinner or your treasured first dance, we have a comprehensive repertoire to create the perfect atmosphere for your event. Our lineup is flexible, and we offer a variety of either instrumental or vocal-led lineups. These include anything from an instrumental duo or acoustic trio up to our full 6-piece band. The band is made up of highly trained musicians with a wealth of experience performing across the UK and internationally in a variety of formats. Our band members are all individual artists in their own right and perform regularly at many of the UK's leading jazz venues. Most importantly, we want you and your guests to have the best possible time at your event. We can help suggest the most appropriate line-up to suit your needs, and are always more than happy to answer any questions you might have about logistics, special requests or anything else leading up to the date.

Just wow! Chris and the band played at our wedding reception and we couldn’t have been happier with them. We asked for chilled, smooth jazz during drinks and this is exactly what they provided, simply perfect.

The Jazz Core performed at our wedding in Norfolk. We booked the instrumental trio to play during our drinks reception and their singer Freddie joined them for another set during our wedding breakfast. We spoke with Chris during the planning stages: he was responsive, friendly, and helpful. On the day the band were simply fantastic and created the perfect atmosphere with their music. We made a couple of special requests (favourite songs of parents) which they included in the dinner set and these made it really special. Wouldn’t hesitate to book them again in the future for anything!

Customer questions

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

As well as our main singer Freddie, we have several other brilliant singers who we work with regularly. We can never 100% guarantee a particular musician due to various unforeseeable circumstances including clashes with tours, illness etc. We do however strive to send out a band as close as possible to what you've seen, and the quality will always be there.

Do you have different line-up options?

We have a very flexible lineup, and are happy to send out anything from a duo to a 6-piece band. Combinations can be with or without vocals, and there are various combo options for certain sizes of band. For example, trio could be: Sax/Guitar/Bass, or Piano/Bass/Drums, or Vocals/Sax/Piano.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We often expect that there may be some movement in timings. Usually we can accommodate small changes to the schedule and this is no problem. Significant changes, for example a much later finish time, may potentially require both parties to reach an agreement on a new price before moving forward.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

If we have our PA system with us we're very happy to include this at no additional charge.

How much time do you need to set up?

For performances involving only acoustic instruments and/or small amps, we can set up in 45 minutes before the performance, although we will as standard arrive at least an hour before we need to be ready to perform. For events where we are using our PA system, 1-1.5 hours is ideal to be sure we have time to set everything up properly.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Our repertoire list is a good guide for the kind of material we often perform, and we also do welcome suggestions for any music in a suitable style that you'd like to hear. We're very happy to chat through things in advance so that we can make sure we've picked the most suitable music for your event.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Our instruments and small amps are included in any quotes. This is totally fine for many background gigs at drinks receptions and smaller spaces. For larger rooms, we'll need use of a PA system to ensure even coverage of the space. We have our own which we can provide for an additional fee (see pricing), or are also happy to work with external AV companies.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If there's anything you'd like to hear us play which we don't have listed, please don't be afraid to ask! Not everything is suitable for our lineup, but we'll do our best to accommodate a special request. Due to time constraints, we are unable to offer to learn more than one or maximum two new songs per gig.
