The Funky Waves formed in 2022 and comprise Emma (vocals), Rich (guitar and BV's), Al (bass and BV's) and Andy (drums). We have a huge songlist spanning the 60s to the present day, covering pop, rock, funk, disco, soul, indie, dance and country. With a songlist of over 150 songs, we have a mixture of classic tracks, epic anthems and incredible medleys that will keep everyone on the dancefloor all night long. With a wealth of live music experience and a songlist guaranteed to keep you dancing all night long, The Funky Waves brings an energy like no other. The Funky Waves were absolutely phenomenal as our wedding band! We first saw them live at Skehans in Spring 2024 and instantly knew they’d be perfect for our big day. From the very beginning, everything felt personal and easy. No middlemen, no hidden fees, just direct and easygoing communication. Rich was amazing to work with, always prioritising that we had the best tunes and the time of our lives. They were super flexible with our playlist, played our first dance beautifully, and even let me jump on stage (which was unforgettable!). Emma’s voice is absolutely killer. She had everyone hooked and the dance floor was never empty. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about them! Honestly, if we were getting married again, we’d probably invite them as guests too. That’s how much we loved having them there. If you're looking for a band that will truly elevate your wedding, we can’t recommend The Funky Waves enough.

We were lucky enough to see the funky waves for the first time at our local pub Skehans and it was safe to say that they had the pub rocking from start to finish. At this point in time we were planning our wedding and struggling to find a band for the big day, so the following day we got in touch with Rich (and the Funky Waves team) and the rest is history. They were phenomenal to work with from day one. They have a never ending list of music and medleys, with banger after banger in their collection. As a band that regularly plays shows around London, it really shows in their professionalism and their stage presence. They were even kind enough to learn our first dance song from scratch for the big day which made it extremely special. They were awesome to work with in the lead up, extremely responsive and happy to have multiple calls to discuss logistics. On the big day, they made everything so smooth from start to finish and had dance floor quite literally bouncing. They hit every note that we were after and it wouldn’t have been the same without them. We got so many compliments from friends and family - the dance floor was packed from start to finish. We hope to have another event so that we can have the Funky Waves come and play again - until then we’re so glad we can go back and see them at Skehans!

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Probably our medleys and the diversity of our setlist. They cover a huge variety of artists, genres and eras with plenty of surprises and songs that you would not expect. We can go from dance to disco, to rock to pop in the blink of an eye.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Skehans Freehouse, The Hagen and Hyde, various weddings and private events.

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

We strive to make sure the line-up you see is what you get on the night. We do have pre-auditioned 'dep' musicians available in case a band member falls ill or is unavailable. As a professional band our reputation means everything so you can be confident that all of our players are of a very high level.

Do you have different line-up options?

No, we always come as a 4 piece of vocals, guitar, bass and guitar.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If the timings change slightly just let us know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. This is a really popular request and we offer this service for free.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually set up about 1.5 to 2 hours before the performance time.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We are more than happy for you to request some favourite tracks from our ever-increasing setlist. However, we've built our setlists over years of playing in packed-out venues and learning what gets people dancing. We have an extensive collection of medleys that are a central part of what we do, and what sets us apart from other bands.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Our PA and lighting system are included in your quote. We usually require a minimum of 3m by 3m space to perform

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a song isn't included in our song list there may still be a chance we already know it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we are happy to do this for you.
