The Funky Waves formed in 2022 and comprise Emma (vocals), Rich (guitar), Michael (bass and BV's) and Andy (drums). We have a huge songlist spanning the 60s to the present day, covering pop, rock, funk, disco, soul, indie, dance and country. With a songlist of over 120 songs, we have a mixture of classic tracks, epic anthems and incredible medleys that will keep everyone on the dancefloor all night long. With a wealth of live music experience and a songlist guaranteed to keep you dancing all night long, The Funky Waves brings an energy like no other.

The Funky Waves have been regular performers with us at Hagen & Hyde for several years, and they have always put on a great show. They get everyone up and dancing in next to no time at all, and have been the cause of queues leading up the road of people trying to get into our pub. They have a great selection of songs, and always seem to be expanding their library. This, alongside their professional attitude and fun-loving performance style, means they would be great for, and elevate any event or function. Behind the scenes, they are extremely friendly and personable and are very easy to communicate with.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Probably our medleys and the diversity of our setlist. They cover a huge variety of artists, genres and eras with plenty of surprises and songs that you would not expect. We can go from dance to disco, to rock to pop in the blink of an eye.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Skehans Freehouse, The Hagen and Hyde, various weddings and private events.

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

We strive to make sure the line-up you see is what you get on the night. We do have pre-auditioned 'dep' musicians available in case a band member falls ill or is unavailable. As a professional band our reputation means everything so you can be confident that all of our players are of a very high level.

Do you have different line-up options?

No, we always come as a 4 piece of vocals, guitar, bass and guitar.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If the timings change slightly just let us know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. This is a really popular request and we offer this service for free.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually set up about 1 to 1.5 hours before the performance time.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We are more than happy for you to request some favourite tracks from our ever-increasing setlist. However, we've built our setlists over years of playing in packed-out venues and learning what gets people dancing. We have an extensive collection of medleys that are a central part of what we do, and what sets us apart from other bands.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Our PA and lighting system are included in your quote. We usually require a minimum of 3m by 3m space to perform

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a song isn't included in our song list there may still be a chance we already know it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we are happy to do this for you.
