Customer questions

Do you have different line-up options?

We offer 2-5 piece line-up options, with optional solo slots by piano or singer. The duo includes piano and singer, with optional backing tracks for brassier numbers. The trio includes piano, singer and usually bass (but sometimes drums if preferred!), the quartet includes piano, singer, bass and drums, and the quintet includes our regular saxophonist Luke.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We understand that wedding days in particular never run on time (even military weddings!) so we're happy (and very used) to getting set up and then waiting for the nod.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. We have a number of playlists to fit any room and also offer a laptop DJ service with tens of thousands of songs and disco lights into the early hours for an additional £150

How much time do you need to set up?

We need around an hour to set up. We usually set the PA up first to get some music playing before it's time for us to begin performing.

Can you roam around while you perform?

Yes and no - the singer has a wireless mic and can wander wherever, but the pianist refuses to play and carry his piano at the same time!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We have a really wide repertoire of classic jazz and swing songs from the 30s-50s , so if you don't see a particular song on our list but it fits this category then it's likely we've performed it at some point. We're also happy to learn one or two special requests from you. I'd suggest allowing us some flexibility in which songs we perform to best fit the ro

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Yes. We bring some lighting to accentuate the instruments, but we don't bring disco lights. We charge £150 extra if you'd like us to run a disco afterwards and bring these bad boys along.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes. We're happy to learn one or two new songs, for example for your first dance. First dance requests we have performed include: City Of Stars from La La Land, Someone Like You from Bridget Jones Diary, As Time Goes By from Casablanca and You Belong To Me by Michael Buble.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

We bring the confidence and expertise of experienced professionals. We originally formed from four of Birmingham's foremost jazz performers, and have since added Luke a talented saxophonist who plays with King Pleasure, to our line-up. Ben, our vocalist, has the authentic sound of swing, and Richard, our pianist, can solo like nobody you've ever seen!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Hotels, restaurants and festivals all around the country including The Ritz in London, The Hyatt in Birmingham, The Bugatti Club Annual Festival near Cheltenham

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Michael Buble, Bobby Darin, Nat King Cole, Harry Connick Jr, Andy Williams, Tony Bennett, Bing Crosby

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

We have performed at events such as award evenings and festivals featuring numerous celebrities including the England rugby team, Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, Kevin McCloud, Christopher Higgins, Stephen Fry.

Thank you so much Ben and Rich, you absolutely made our wedding reception! We were so impressed with your performance and received so many compliments from our guests - you elevated the whole evening! And thank you especially for being so accommodating and allowing me to come up and sing with you as a surprise to my new husband. You have been so helpful, right from our very first contact, and really went above and beyond yesterday - even jumping on the piano to accompany our cake cutting after your performance had ended! We really can’t thank you enough and will be recommending you to all of our friends.

The Debonairs were absolutely fantastic, they interacted with the audience really well, kept us all entertained and very kindly supported my husband as he sang a couple of songs with them. I would HIGHLY recommend the group to other bookers.

The Debonairs were absolutely fantastic! We asked them to step in at the very last minute leading up to our wedding, the process for booking them was quick and simple and they provided all the necessary paperwork for us to hand over to the venue. Performance wise they did a great job at getting the crowd warmed up. They had a challenge with children running around being a bit of a distraction but they were able to keep both the children and adults entertained without affecting their show. They played a diverse mix of classic fifties swing and modern tracks with a swing influence added to them. Myself, my wife and all the guests were thoroughly impressed with the show, anybody who wasn't on the dance floor was sat right next to it so that they could enjoy the music. I can't recommend this band enough. A fantastic act that added to an already fantastic day!
